Situated on Ashmun in Downtown Soo Michigan. The store is well laid out, albeit rather small, but on Eastern U.P. standards, it's not bad. Mostly wine, and wine related items, but a respectable and worthy section was dedicated to beer. The store does BOP and brews their own beers in small batches, which is for sale to the public. Some brewing books and home brewer's accessories were present, as was some glass ware. Reasonable prices, but again, this is on the premise that you are in Sault Ste. Marie, and there isn't anywhere else to get most of the items that they have. The owner was friendly and the staff was kind, but the overall lack of stock was kind of a draw back. They've only been in up and going for about 5 months as of this review, and it really shows. This place really focuses in on wine and specialty productions (labels for your own beer) for events such as parties and weddings. It's nice to see something of this nature in a "small town" environment like the Soo, but overall, it's really lacking. I hope that they can make it and improve a bit, which would make it a worth while stop. As for the beers they produce, I sampled all seven varieties in 12 oz bottles. I really hate to bash, but none of the beers were drinkable. I poured each one out after only a few sips. Some were light skunked (green bottles), others just poorly made (lack of quality ingredients), and others were plain bad (non-carbonated lager with wads of sediment in the bottom). No thanks. I understand they were going for in the bottle fermentation, as the labels stated, but they were amiss in their goal. I hope this is something they can rectify, and perhaps produce a quaffable, decent beer.
