I have not been to a cooler, more unique beer-oriented restaurant since going to Monk's. The place is crammed into a historic colonial building, with narrow hallways and dim lighting. Seating is small and intimate. The food is excellent Belgian staples: mussels and pommes frites. The beer list is so long that you are required to purchase it if you want to take it with you. And the selection is excellent, only the best beers, Belgian and otherwise, are served. To go to Monk's is an instantly nostalgic experience.

Amazing place and a must when in Philly. There may be some better places to get a beer in town (Eulogy, Tria) but Monk's is a classic and usually has some amazing stuff on tap. Went there last week and had Lost Abbey Deliverance - rocked my world. Monk's has an epic reputation and is well worth the visit.

Also the mussels are incredible :)
