Rogues Roost- Red

A- Thick Amber red, very little carbonation with no head.
S- Strong dry malt with a touch of molasses.
T- Good sweet cherry like malt with a tangy dry hoppy finish.
M- Sweet and malty throughout with a tangy dry hoppy body and finish.

Overall- Solid, sessionable and easy to drink!

Arrives a deep, clear copper with a small but tight off-white head that leaves pretty good lacing. Smells hoppy for an amber ale, with floral Cascade hops and fruity malts present in roughly equal proportions. Tastes of caramel and lighter fruits, with some apple and spices in the mix, and the finish is hoppy and dry. Not particularly complex, but not unpleasant either. Mouthfeel is a touch thin, but crisp and refreshing, and the drinkability is great. Not a spectacular beer, but a very nice one for a night at the pub. I'd guess the ABV in the 5 - 5.5% range, making it the sort of beer that you could session pretty well.

Had a meal and a few drinks at Rogues Roost in Halifax, the city's best brewpub IMO.

Appearance: Deep red colour, pretty clear. Leaves lots of lace.

Aroma: Definately malt forward, but a surprising amount of hoppiness. Very sweet smelling, caramel & florals.

Taste: Sweet, roasted malt with a biscuity element. Floral and grassy hops. Clean finish, moderate-low bitterness.

Mouthfeel: A bit thin in body, drinkability very high.

Final Statement: This seems to be their most popular, likely because it hasn't much flavour and non beer geeks will order it. It is, however, a nice drink for a patio session. Nothing to scoff at.
