A traditional English bitter. Best Bitter is cask conditioned, unfiltered and unpasturized.

First brewed in 1985, Best Bitter was Eastern Canada's first craft beer. Ideally this beer should be served at 45 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

On tap at Henry House: Clear amber color, frail 1 finger beige head. Flavors of cinnamon, sweet barley, lemon, and floral hops. Oily medium body with a faint crisp. Light strength grainy and leafy feel. The body doesn't hold up well, too thin with not enough carbonation. Neither sharp nor fresh enough like typical bitters. Overall average quality craft.

A solid example of english bitter...enjoyed it from the brewery, used a part to make aged cheddar fondue...excellent.

All in all, a solid session beer with good aroma and solid hop profile. Not the most assertive bitter I've ever had. Worth picking up a growler if you are in Halifax.

Granite/ Gingers Tavern

A- Solid dark copper brown with a small tight bubbly white head. Light lacing down the top half of my pint.
S- Nice sweet buttery butter scotch malt.
T- Sweet shortbread with buttery caramel malt. Light sweet citrus hop touch in the back.
M- Very buttery and creamy with a sweet start and a light hoppy dry finish. Low carbonation (natural)

Overall- A very nice session beer, my only 1 at Granite but highly recommended and on my to do(drink)list when I return to Halifax!

This beer was one of the best beers of the brewery, easy drinkable, nice and hoppy and low in alcohol.

Color was golden with a small head.
Smell of hops, with a nice maltiness, like spent grains. Also a nice fruitiness.
Taste was grainy and malty, again with a great hoppiness, but without being pungent. I does not taste like an overly complex beer, but the best beers are often the simplest.
One of the beers that even a beginner beeradvocate can drink, but also for the experienced one.
