Pours a crystal clear dark golden/light amber color with a good head that has no retention. Decent, raw toasted malt aromas are in the smell but not much else. Toasty malt sweetness witha a bit of hops toward the middle. This brew is watery and bland and not really very drinkable. Still this is definitely a step up from the regular Wicked Ale.

This was a reddish-amber brew with an average head. Nothing spectacular.

The aroma was of sharp medium-bodied malts, a bit of roastiness at the back of the nose (but very light).

The taste was of medium-bodied malt with some sharp hop flavors.

It wasn't staggeringly good, but it wasn't horrid either... a little better than average, I'd definitely pick this over a macro aat a party.

Evidently discontinued by Pete's, along with many others. No bother to me, as I don't care for most of their beer's anyway, and if they want to shoot themselves in the foot with craft drinkers, that is fine with me.

Pours out to a sparkingly clear deep caramel with ruby accents, forming a small light-beige head with poor retention and no lacing. Carbonation is moderate. Aroma of toffee, caramelized sugars, diacetyl, some distant herbal hops and macro twang. Mouthfeel is middling with a medium body and dry, clean finish. Taste begins with some semblance of malt, but then is quickly covered with a light herbal hoppiness, a pronounced roasted barley astringency, thin watery middle, a touch of bittering hops, and mild fusels. Finish is kinda dry with little aftertaste.

Very one-dimensonal, and probably appealing to macro drinkers with an appetite for the wild side, or an urge to impress their friends with their "craft beer sensibility". Wow...this is wickedly wussy.

A moderate amber color with hints of red...though not particularly well expressed. Almost no smell at all...(do I have a cold?). Slightly fruity at best. Taste is extremely thin and watery. Not altogether bad if you can get enough in your mouth to taste it... but definitely weakly expressed. Mouth feel is non-existent, confirming the watery consistency. I suppose it is drinkable beer in comparison to the widely marketed American "rice" beers, but not anything above and beyond that. Overall, I'm not particularly impressed.

Another disappointing brew from Pete's. So far, the Wicked Ale has been pretty decent, but I'm going to group this with their Helles as a pretty plain and boring beer.

This beer pours an amber color that really isn't at all that red. A 2-finger off-white head forms and disappears in under 30 seconds. The smell has some light, sweet caramel aspects to it, with a kind of weird plasticy smell. The mouthfeel was thin and watery. Taste has some light caramel malt notes. Very light nutty flavors with some light sweetness, but altogether QUITE watery. Barely detectable hop presence. Aftertaste is near non-existant, with just some light grains and finishing out with no alcoholic warmth.

Much too watery of a beer. Sam Adams Light has more flavor than this. This is a beer for macro-swillers who want to look cool drinking a semi-micro.

As it pours from the bottle a translucent deep amber color, the head is large and bubbly, the color an off white, with the lace a satisfactory covering upon the glass. Nose is crisp and malt sweet, start has a nice malt profile with a thin to medium top. Finish is biting in its acidity, the hops pleasantly spicy, a drinkable beer and one that I buy every year when the sampler pack comes out.

Assuming this is the same beer that was labeled as Pete's Wicked Red about 5-8 years ago, this is a trip back memory lane to one of the first beers I enjoyed, just as I was discovering beer (not even good beer, but beer in general).

12 oz bottle, part of a mixed 6-pack

The beer has a orange, amber color to it and is fairly bright. The head is slightly below average and has a normal appearance. The nose has a moderate caramel aroma, with some malt extract notes, and a faint hint of Scotch.

The flavor starts with a decent malt base. It has a moderate sweetness, and finishes with a mild hoppyness. A simple, easy to drink beer to be sure, but not a bad one.

I recommend this beer as a transition beer to serve to open-minded Macro drinkers. The flavors are subtle and should not scare people off.

Although my tastes have absolutely changed during the last 5-8 years, I can still be in the mood for a beer like this.

Pours a lighter shade of amber with a light head, seems a litle thin by the looks.A real bad smell to it musty and a little meaty? The taste has some malty sweet qualities with some ever so slight toasty notes so not to bad in that category.Seems thin on the tongue and does get a little watery tasting after a few,not to impressed with this brew for sure.

Pours to a light copper color with an off-white head. The aroma is of sweet caramel malts with a light fruity, spicy hop aroma. The flavor has a sweet caramel malt taste with a light hop fruitiness. It is a light-bodied, easy drinking brew with almost no bitterness.

another of Pete's worth checking out. Goes down smooth, I
like it cold. Sweet, light pale ale especially summer time,
its not for everybody, thank god we have choices, I'll
choose this while they keep making it, along with a hundred
others varieties of beer out there, this ones a keeper, I'd love
to try it on tap.

The beer pours a dark golden color, not red. The head is bone white, but is lost in seconds; very little lacing. The nose is weak. There are a few malty notes in here, but for the most part this is just a pale ale. I don't understand this "red" craze anyway. Besides Killians and a few others I could give a damn about this style. It could ride away into the sunset like the "dry" beers of the 90's. The taste again is light and plain, maybe some crystal malts to add a darker golden color and a slight malt character. The mouthfeel is ok;a medium body. The drinkability is decent as well. But there are few beers that I deem undrinkable. Pete's beers are highly over-rated. When I first started drinking beer, I thought these guys were "micro"-brewers. This beer sucks; I'm sorry. If it weren't for my addiction to review beers I would never have purchased these brews.

Amber colored brew with a small white head that dies quickly but will leave lace on the glass. Rich malty aroma with a bit of sourness makes up the nose.

A medium to light bodied brew. There is a bit of a strange balance to this one. It is very malty, but the hops seem to really give it a unique taste. It is lacking flavor, and it is overall pretty boring. It is a good drinker, and it could be a decent summer session brew.

This beer poured into the glass an amber color that was crystal clear and well carbonated. It produced a light tan/beige head that was semi lasting to non-existent. It produced some lace behind that was patchy and sticky. The aromas were kind of faint, nothing really stood out. I nosed sweet malt, citrus, hop and some fruit. The tastes were much like the nose. Sweet malt, flowers, lemon, grain, slight alcohol in the front, and hops. There was an aftertaste of grain left behind. To me it seemed to be an average beer that was very simple – typical, reminded me of a macro beer. Not the pizzazz that I would like and come to expect from craft beers, kind of disappointed me. Not a good example of the style that it represents. And I am still looking for the red in red rush.

Pete's Wicked Red Rush is being discontinued, according to sources close to the brewery. Here is why. Red Rush was an attempt to reach people who drink macros, but want to get into micros. The people that tried it are those that like micros, and they didn't like this beer. A Pete's brand manager once told me at a party they hosted for a group of chemists that they had jacked up the carbonation in this. Hence the frequent comparisons in the BA reviews to soda. That also is the reason for the "Rush" in the beers title.

It pours a very bright golden amber with some head. Aroma is next to nothing at first, but some malty character comes out as it warms.

The taste does improve with warmth and as the carbonation settles down. Until then, there isn't much to taste and it comes very close being much like the psuedo-micros conconcted by the Big 3. It should be mentioned that Pete's owner Gambrinus pays Miller plants to make the beers. But that doesn't take away from the fact that they still make some decent beers worth trying.
