Thanks to Chonyr for bringing this brew north.
Pours a clear, relatively pale brownish red. Half finger light tan head formed on the pour then quickly dissipated. Quite lightly and finely carbonated. Essentially no lacings.
Decent malty aromas of caramel, nuts and toast. Some honey like sweetness and quite clean smelling, with faint hints of pear like esters. Some mild hop aroma, primarily earthy notes with nuances of fresh cut hay.
Somewhat sweet and toasty, with a nutty character, almost like walnut, and a toffee character also present. The hint of pear also comes through in the taste. The mild hop bitterness finishes mush like the aroma.
Light to medium in body and quite mildly carbonated. Decent malt and hop balance, and manages to finish slightly dry despite its slight sweetness.
Quite drinkable and approachable darker ale. Would be a good crossover beer. Refreshing and easy to drink making this a sessionable brew. While I wont be rushing out for more Im sure I'll enjoy this brown ale again.
