50cl swing top bottle poured into my Spaten Seidel
BBE 31 Feb 2013
A- Mahogany body with ruby highlights. 4 finger off white creamy head reduces quickly to a crown with average lacing. Body has excellent clarity.
S- A delicate smoked note in the beginning. Reminds me of a creamy Austrian smoked cheese with an air dried smoked ham. Some sweet toffee/biscuity malts.
T- Smoke dominates but remains delicate. A nice biscuity malt base throughout resulting in a clean lager finish. No impression of hops really at all. Typical Franken style.
M- The delicateness of the smoke lends itself to a lovely moderate carbonation that has a creaminess to it, especially noticeable in the finish. Superb.
D- This stuff is superb. A fantastic level of smoke leading to a typical Franken biscuity malt quality. Id like just a suggestion of hop in the finish. The mouthfeel is perfect - delicate, creamy yet lager clean in the finish. I could drink this all day. No surprise this has won a few awards!
