When I first moved to the area, I went to the Cracker Barrel for beer because they had a nice selection, and until about a year ago, they were the only place in town to get Unibroue.
But the selection there has really waned as their sales philosophy seems to have shifted to focus almost exclusively to fine wine and cheeses.
You can still get Bell's session beers there, and they also carry Ayinger and Sam Smith, but forget about finding any big dank beers or Belgian styles.
I recently asked the proprietor about it, and he told me there weren't any plans to expand their beer offerings. He also told me he would be happy to special order Unibroue (if I committed to a full case).
You can find a decent sandwich at their deli, but there isn't much on the menu for vegetarians. Nevertheless, it's a pretty good place to go if you need to put together an hors d'ouevre for a party.
A far better source for wine than beer. (The owners have recently opened a wine and martini bar next door.)

Nice discovery I made while shopping in Alpena. If you are looking for beer made in Michigan they most likely will have it. The section for beer is small and crammed packed. I'm surprised at how many different beer they do have ( maybe 45). What I don't like is you need to buy full six packs and cannot split. I did buy a variety pack of Arcadia (3 each of 4 different beers) for $13.00! They are willing to order if you can't find what you are looking for. The sales clerk spent a lot of time with me looking for a beer. They have always been really friendly every time I have been in.
