Farm Fresh #188 is not only a good place to buy craft beer, it is also the only place that carries anything worth mentioning within the city. Suffolk is more isolated than most of hampton roads and the downtown section of the city hosts nearly all of the commerce. Still, the store is nice, and the staff is helpful although not very knowledgable. They have a very decent selection that would keep most beer advocates happy without needing to travel outside the city for sometime. The slightly higher prices are probably a result of the store's local monopoly on craft beer, and the convienience of keeping big ticket labels in stock. Breweries such as Sierra Nevada, Anchor, Rouge, Dogfish Head, Smuttynose, Brooklyn Brewery, etc. are well represented. I highly reccommend this store for quality brew purchases, but if you live in Suffolk, you're probably already well aware.

I was in the area and just happened to use Beeradvocate on my phone to find this place. I was very disappointed, to say the least.
The beer is in a walk in cooler, so I froze my ass off. Secondly, the selection was paltry at best. They had two sixers of Alewerks, and nothing else local. Not much in the way of Micros either; your typical Sierra, Sam Adams, Michelob craft. Nothing I couldnt find in any grocery store or gas station.
Not sure this place belongs here. Prices were okay but nothing really cheap. This place isnt worth the time or effort.
