This has a nice solid look to it. Light in color, but opaque.

It smells a bit different from the thirst-quenching wheats that I'm used too. Perhaps too much citrus odor was forced in there. The taste is a little rough and sugary, and draws comparisons to soda.

Nothing special in either direction, really.

Appearance – This one is light yellowish-orange in color with a modest, disappointing head.

Smell – The light citrus notes and subtle wheat aren’t bad, but certainly no Hefeweizen.

Taste – This is more like an American Wheat Beer. The tangy orange flavor and barely-noticeable wheat are wimpy, but the strong coriander will knock your socks off.

Mouthfeel – This is big for the style, medium-bodied I’d say, with some light carbonation and a sharp, bitter leafy finish.

Drinkability – This is a mediocre Wheat Beer.

Metolius Hare's Ear Hefeweisen
Another from Metolius. The amber was average, let's see how the hefe fairs;

Swirl the bottle alot to get all the sediment. From that action you will manage a cloudy pour with a quickly dissipating head.
Aroma is weak and metallic.

Easy drinking beer with a good mouthfeel, but I don't think it lives up to a typical hefeweisen.

12 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass.

Very pale golden color, slightly cloudy with a creamy white head.

Smells....grainy. Like cheap lager. Some grassy notes.

Tastes...like not much of anything. Slight citrus twang and no discernable malts. This is no Hefeweisen, no matter what the label says. This is an American Wheat, and not a very good one at that. This practically begs for the dreaded lemon wedge, just to give it some kind of flavor.

Light body (very light) and waaaay too much carbonation. If I wanted seltzer water, I would have bought that instead.

Another mediocre contact brew. Don't bother.

Ok this beer is brewed by MacTs for the Albertson grocery chain.
Bought a 12 oz brown bottle single.
Has a nice river scene with a fisdhing fly on the label.
MM this beer is very murky even for a hefe..murky orange..small pure white head that dissapears fast..no lacing..hope this is not off.
well doesnt smell off..doesnt smell of much at all to be honest.
Taste is pretty weak..although the wheat sourness is discernable..small malts too.
It feels oily on the tongue due to the lack of carbonation.
Its not that bad..but I would not buy it again..maybe it was off..I dont really know.

I'm not a huge hefeweisen drinker so keep that in mind when reading this review. The appearance wasn't all that great imo. The head was small and left very quickly leaving just a trace around the edges. The color was a cloudy yellowish orange, but I was expecting it to be cloudier for a hefe. The aromas were light with citris and wheat, not bad at all. It tasted fairly decent to me, nothing spectacular, but not bad either. Citris notes, wheat and grains, again nothing spectacular. Overall it is a pretty refreshing beer that goes down smooth. I could drink several of these in one sitting without even knowing it. However, Hare's Ear won't come to mind when I'm looking for a hefe in the futre.

I picked up a six-pack of Metolius Hare’s Ear Hefeweisen at a grocery store to taste, review and enjoy. I poured this beer in to a weizen glass.

Pours a pale yellow/gold color and is cloudy. A fizzy two-finger head forms, and dissipates quickly, producing some lacing on the sides of the glass while drinking.

The smell is sweet, floral and fruity, melons, and citrus mostly. There is a little malted grain aroma.

The taste is typical of a hefe, wheat flavors and some fruits, especially melons and citrus. The flavor comes out a bit as the beer warms, so I recommend serving it on the warm side (by American standards) . The warned beer approaches the banana and clove flavors a good hefe is known for.

The mouth feel is good, crisp and clean.

This is a very drinkable beer, and possibly a better bottled hefeweizen than is generally available in this area. I got it on sale ($6.49 for a six-pack). At that price I might be persuaded to have it again.

NOTE: Be sure and swirl the last inch of so of beer in the bottom of the bottle, to loosen the unfiltered sediments and get them in to your glass.

Poured from 12oz bottle a cloudy light gold with a smallish head of foam that quickly shrunk leaving a broken, fine layer.

The smell is quite light but I note some citrus and wheat.

The taste is well...where *is* the taste? There's a bit of wheat present and an ever so slight hint of, umm...I'm reaching here....citrus? Man, this is maybe the blandest brew my palate has ever encountered in my years of drinking micros. I mean, it's not offensive, it just doesn't have any character that you can reflect upon after you swallow it. Wow. That being said, it's probably a big seller in the markets that carry it. ;^)

thanks to my mentor tom for this bottle
A- cloudy, color looks the same yellowish orange as fruit juice, little white head, no retent, yeast bits floating, little bit of lace

S- sweet, wheat, and fruit aromas

T- sweet, wheat malt flavor, clove flavor as well. fruit sweetness, mainly banana, some citrus also. A some floral hop flavors in the background toward the finish. Sweet banana aftertaste. Flavors gets stronger and better as temperature increases.

M- overall smooth, can be a bit dry, nice body, carbonation tickles

D- they say dont judge a book by its cover and this beer can back that up. Judging by its weak head and retent i would of just wrote this brew off, but this brew actually restores my faith in american hefs. Quite a surprise i would definetlt session this one.
