There are actually three McDade's in the Jackson area. The one reviewed on Northside Drive has the smallest beer section of the three. It's very cramped, but there's a good selection for low ABV beer. They try to get as much craft beer as Hops and Habanas in Madison.
I like McDade's in the Fondren area on Duling St. That's where I used to head every Friday afternoon to grab two new craft beers I hadn't tried. One in the parking lot and one at home. At $1.50 a bottle (except Samuel Smith's), I scored some great Rogue brews. The Fondren McDade's still has the biggest area of beers and sometimes more selection than Northside.
Last but not least is the McDade's on Fortification Street. It's in the old Jitney 13 location and has the same good choices of beer as its sister stores.
McDade's has a cool mom and pop atmosphere. They make great potato salad and deli sandwiches. The staff are very helpful and don't have that "big store" attitude.
And they all have a pick 6 beers for $9. So keep on sampling. And enjoy the McDade's spirit.

This review is for McDade's grocery store which is attached to the liquor store. This review is also based on the current beer laws in our state.
McDade's was always my go-to place for Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout when I lived in Jackson. Made a recent trip back to Jackson last week and stopped by to see what they had.
Staff is always very pleasant. Didn't ask for any help. Selection is good for Mississippi. Samuel Smith, Abita, Yazoo, Paulaner, Sierra Nevada, Guniess, and a bunch of Sam Adams that we never see back home in Meridian. Pick six is nice and makes deciding much easier now that my beer fridge is exploding.

First off, this was rated by keeping in mind that I stopped by there with the cap still in order (still is, but one can dream).
Stopped by the day after Top of the Hops, at 10:30 am, we were greeted by all 3 cashiers when we walked in, always very nice! We didn't really need help other then making sure we could actually buy beer before 1pm on Sundays, yes we are Tupelo MS locals.
The selection was great as far as I'm concerned, no Tallgrass though, which is what we were hunting down, none of the other stores we went to had it either so it might have been a distribution issue. Found a growler of Gulf Porter, a very nice surprise. Picked up some Heiner Brau Maerzen also, since we can't get this. Otherwise Lazy magnolia seemed to be represented very well, same for Abita, Tommyknocker, Diamond Bear (not available in Tupelo either), Paulaner, Flying dog (no longer distributed in Tupelo) and Leinenkugel. Nothing worldshocking for out of staters but for us folks from 3h up north it was well worth a visit.
They had an option to make your own 6pack, at $8.99 that seems reasonable. Same price as Kroger, we stopped by the one in Flowood and found their selection to be smaller.

McDade's has one of the best selections in the Jackson metro area. Their prices are a bit higher than you can get at Kroger, but the selection is greater. Paulaner, most Abita offerings, good selection of SA brews.
No one has ever offered to help me while I was there, but I have not asked for any help either.
The beer selection in central MS is improving, but we are still far behind other states with our 6.0% ABV limit.
McDade's is one of the places to check out if you are visiting the Jackson area and looking for decent selection.

This store has a decent selection for Mississippi, but seems to have declined slightly. There are a few standard imports like Bass, Guinness, etc along with a few different non-standard ones such as Sam Smith's Nut Brown and Leffee. They also carry a few of the higher profile microbrews for the area. I was dissapointed that they did not carry beer from MS's only microbrewery (Lazy Magnolia - which can be found in some stores in a small keg).
All things considered, this store is worth looking at if you want a good beer, but not outstanding.
