Bubbles has been under new ownership/management since about 2012. A very nice young couple took it over, and made immediate improvements in service and selection. Their beer selection is just better than average for our area, as many supermarkets over here carry a huge selection of craft brews and Euro brews. But, Bubbles II (as it is now called) carries DAB, and that is my favorite beer. But, to me, the best thing about this place is their Scotch selection. Everyone in Kansas City knows Gomer's, and how good their selection is. But, Justin has worked diligently to ensure a whisky selection that rivals that of Gomer's. And the place is just north of I-70 a couple blocks, so it's convenient.

EDIT: Each repeat visit gets more and more disappointing. Selection isn't much better than a gas station.
Newer Edit: The guy running the place had never heard of HopSlam.
This is an odd place. It seemed rather empty. There was lots of empty floor place. There was a small selection of craft brews (most of the common brands available in MO). The build your own six-pack selection was even smaller. There may have been 25-30 brews to choose from (not a single beer that was new to me). They did have some Belgians sitting on their sides in wine racks. It was early May and they still had a large collection of Christmas brews. It is less than a mile off of I-70, but it was a waste of my time after earlier visists to both Lukas stores.

My ratings kind of say what I think. This is a good store.
The craft beer selection runs about 50 beers. Boulevard, Schlafly, OFallon, Rogue, Sam Smith, Unibroue, Sam Adams, He'Brew, North Coast, and New Belgium are all well represented here with others available as well.
I didn't need much service, but the ladies at the checkout were friendly.
The store is in a well-used building, but kept clean. The beer is to the right, mostly kept cold but some are out. They allow you to make mix packs of 3-6 beers (state says you have to get 3). The vast majority are fine, but sometimes they use this to get rid of older seasonals as well. There is another section with some larger bottles stored almost as if were wine on it's side. I perused that section previously and those were quite old, but they may have fixed that so take a look.
Plenty of wine and spirits available as well. Prices are about average. If you must have a bigger selection and you're in Independence, you can hit Happy Hour on the east edge of town, but if you're staying at I-70 and Noland and don't want to go far, Bubbles won't let you down.

Moderately nice shop area with a good inventory of wines and liquors as well as beer. Approximately 150 beers stocked, the majority being imports or micro-brews along wiith the standard macros. Beer lines are rotated so there are usually at least two or three new brews in every week.
Employee expertise varies considerably, especially in ragard to the more exotic beers, but they provide a beer "manual" with descriptions of various styles, food/beer recommendations and reviews of over 300 beers. This is updated as new beers are brought in. They also feature a large "mix and match display where you can purchase single bottles of beers you might want to try. Prices range from $1.25 up to about $4.00 for 12 oz bottles
The previous owner was very much into promoting the more premium beers. This slacked up for a while but seems to be well back on line now.
