Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Look – light golden color, clear, with good but somewhat slow carbonation and about half a finger’s worth of foam that dissipates quickly.

Smell – very Pilsner-like in smell, and with that more of a German pilsner-like smell. There are hints of cereal grains.

Taste – very much like any other pilsner. Nothing terribly unique-tasting about it. The grains used may not be cereals, at least not from what I can tell. Somewhat musky taste in the middle, but with a teeny tiny bite at the finish.

Mouthfeel – About average in Mouthfeel too. Not fully on the side of wateriness, but very close.

Overall – not very interesting at all, but not bad-tasting either.

To my knowledge this is the first Lithuanian beer I have had to date, poured into a pilsner a clear sptritzey light golden with a blooming, sticky white head a very nice pour it went down hill from there sad to say.Semi skunked profile really hinders the nose its a dark bottle so it seems to me it would be hard for a lotta light to get thru but I cant imagine this beer being having that kind of aroma on purpose hints of sweeter corn and mineral show up as well.Somewhat sweet on the palate but at least not skunky with a touch of mineral, a herbal sharpness comes thru nicely in the finish giving it just a little character.Somewhat grainy and sturdy in the mouth,eh kinda boring and the aromas are off but its not offensive and it comes cheap.

Definitely one of the best beers out there. I've been drinking various beers, from various countries to find something that could be my new favorite, but to this day this beer is still undisputed.

I will start with the best:

The taste is something to die for. The bitterness is just perfect and leaves a good aftertaste though not too much to not allow you to enjoy every single sip of it.

The smell is good, however it doesn't stand out much from the rest of good beers.

Another good thing, that unlike a lot of other beers that I really like this one isn't just available in some certain bars, but you can get bottles or cans of it in the stores.

To sum up I must say that this is a very good beer for your evening drink. It's not top notch, however if you are going to watch a game of football (those from US call it soccer I think) on the TV this is the thing you are looking for. You might not get it outside of Europe, but if you come across it definitely try it out. At the very least you will not be disapointed.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: It has a average size white, foamy head. It doesn't make much lace on the glass and fades to just a thin cap covering a golden colored body with good clarity and visible carbonation.

Smell: The aroma has a pleasant floral and grassy hop character with a very nice mild malt note.

Taste/Mouth feel: It is crisp up front. Malt flavor is earthy and biscuity with a very mild sweetness that mixes with grassy and floral hops. The hops fade into the dry finish with nice mellow bitterness from the hops. Its body is light with a wet and fizzy texture from the carbonation.

Notes: Overall it had a nice clean flavor and aroma with an easy drinking body and texture.

50cl brown bottle with no freshness date.

Pours a crystal clear pale blond color, sudsy sea foam white head leaves a lot of lacing on the glass. Spicy hops meets a light biscuity bready malt nose. Crispness and smoothness are where they should be for a lager. Industrial beer-i-ness gives a big dishing of cooked hops, creamed corn (DMS) and dried grass. Hint of alcohol and lemony hops in the dry end.

Not a bad beer, just your typical Euro lager.

I really enjoyed this lager, which I know, is pretty standard. It has a nice aftertaste to it, not sour or overly bitter like a lot of lighter beers, not too sweet like a lot of stouts. My expectations for this weren't very high, I was expecting to be disappointed, but enjoyed it enough to buy it again. And again.

(Served in a strange)

A- This beer pours a crystal clear pale straw yellow body with a strong carbonation of big bubbles. The head is a white rocky head that deflates quickly.

S- The soft note of pale malt and bitter hops is very light and there is no depth or freshness to them.

T- The taste is very light even for a euro pale lager. The first sip reminds me of fresh snow. Then as it warms that taste goes away and I get nothing but a faint hint of hops in the finish. There is a carbonic bite at the finish that boost the hops but it is not enough. The finish is pretty dry.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a fizz texture that makes it feel a bit more full.

D- I was intrigued by the label and the World Beer Cup 2004 Gold Winner Award on it. It has no noticeable taste of grain or malt and the hops taste very weak. It is a let down, indeed.

Kalnapilis Original pours a clear, deep golden body beneath a short head of creamy bright white foam. The head retention is fairly good, and it slowly drops to a wide collar and almost completely solid, cottony surface covering. Initially, it also leaves some solid rings of lace that are quite nice. The aroma is straightforwardly malty, and just lightly grainy, but nothing else apart from some fermentation esters. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp. The flavor offers more of the same maltiness (there's obviously some adjunct in use here), and a smear of leafy and herbal hops. Again, some fermentation esters and phenols are present with a touch of higher alcohols (high fermentation temp or poor yeast maintenance), but it's not off-putting. The bitterness is harsh, but not overly bitter; and appears midway across the palate, rises at the swallow, and then lingers in the finish. Not the best beer out there.

Pours a golden straw color, crowned by a thin finger's worth of light, creamy white head that vanishes almost instantly. Aroma of crisp pilsner malt and a touch of adjunct, with just a hint of bready sweetness. Palate is clean pilsner malt balanced by a light fruitiness from the hops. Body is nice, crisp and light with very nice carbonation. A thirst-quenching lager that's a bit light on the flavor, but is perfectly serviceable.

Just a nice Euro lager. Came off to me a bit like a cream ale in that it had some mouthfeel to it. It wasn't just all water. I've been on a pilsner and pale Euro lager kick recently, don't ask me why. This fits in with the rest of them. A bit sweet, nothing special or any hops flavor. Its just very easy to drink like so many pale Euro lagers. I guess I'd say its good for the style.

Poured from a brown 16.9 oz. bottle. Has a light golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of grains and malts. Taste also is grainy up front, a slight sweetness, some malts are present. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall makes for a decent beer.

A: Poured a clear, lemon-gold with a thick, foamy dull white head that displayed very good retention lasting for several minutes. Visible carbonation was scarce and light.

S: light lemons and fresh grains.

T: buttery corn malt, and lemons. There was some hints of fresh grains and a nice spicy hoppiness coming through with just a touch of sour citric hopping n the finish. While not terribly complex the flavor was quite crisp and non-offending with a kiss of dried lemons in the fade and finish. A pretty decent lager that beats out any mass produced American macro by style.

M: a medium viscosity, was buttery slick and very softly carbonated.

D:I had no problem drinking this. Quite good and pleasantly surprised, Definitely one of the better beers out of Lithuania and worth a curious try.

I am drinking a 650 mL bottle poured into an Old Stein Inn earthenware mug. The beer is cold.

Appearance: The beer is a pale yellow color. There is no hint of sediment, however the beer did have an acceptable head that retained itself nicely.

Smell: The lager has a earthy hop aroma that adds a pleasant character. I also detect a fruity aroma that comes close to resembling orange.

Taste: The lager is very soft on the palate. The hops emerge as a dry, smooth taste in the beer. The malt character is relaxed, most likely softened by corn or other adjunct. Overal, the lager is smooth tasting and easy on the palate.

Mouthfeel: The lager is very smooth on the palate. It has a nice balance of dry hops and sweet malt.

Drinkability: I think that this is high on the drinkability scale, gimme several of these and good company anytime.

I poured into my glass to an ample white, fluffy head. It is pale yellow in color. It looks like Lithuania's attempt at a macro lager. The smell is sweet, not good. The taste actually has some bitterness to it. It has a clean finish. It is not a stellar beer, but not the worst either. I think I'll stick to mail order brides from Lithuania and not the beer.

I sveikas!

500ml bottle. Lager glass. Enjoyed on feb´13. Pale gold in color., crystal appearance & white froth. Quickly dissipated crown. Hints of honey, flowers & lemon zest hues to the nose. Slightly metallic odor. Lemon juice at first sip. Spicy touch & fizzy sensation.Light body, high carbonation. Underneath bitterness in the middle. Watery texture. Lemony long finish.

Poured this .5L can into a Sierra Nevada Hops glass. No date. The body was hazy pale gold and had what looked like fish food floating in it. Dark brown chunks of yeast (I hope) floated around. The nucleation in the glass did not help them settle. The white head faded at a moderate pace.

The smell was lightly lemony. That is all.

The taste was smooth light malts with some faint sourness. Some faded/stale hops were present. Not vegetal. I presume this is an old can. It tastes far from fresh. I'd give it another try under better circumstances.

The mouthfeel was medium bodied and smooth. Maybe a little light on carbonation.

Poured from a 16.9oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a short white head that fades at a decent rate and leaves a thick on the glass.

S: The aroma is of light malts, grain, adjuncts and a faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with an adjunct and light malt sweetness that is followed by a mildly bready grain flavor. The hops presence is very mild but provides a little bit of balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.

M: Smooth and crisp, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

D: A little tasty, goes down easily, not filling at all, mild kick, decent representation of style, it's a beer that is ok to pound down for a while because it's light and has a little flavor to it but overall it's just a mediocre beer.

My local bottle shop had a number of single bottles of various Eruo lagers during a recent visit and I decided that they might be a way to realign my bottle numbers with my CAN numbers.

My pour initially netted better than two fingers' worth of bone white head with good retention. As it slowly fell, it left some nice lacing in its wake. Color was a straw yellow with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a big cooked corn/DMS presence along with a light lager sweetness. I am still unsure about its designation as an EPL, but so be it. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full with an odd combination of cooked corn, mild malty lager sweetness and a metallic flavor on the tongue. Finish was initially more corn-like than anything, but the lingering aftertaste was metallic. I am glad that I only bought one of these and even gladder that I only expended $3.00 in doing so. I would not recommend this beer to anyone.

A really nice EPL. Crisp. Very balanced. Nice golden color and good head retention. If you are in the mood for an EPL you would not be dissapointed. Definitely worth the $2 price for a pint. Makes you feel like a real Lithuanian and smell like one too.
