Moving from Iowa to Ohio, Giant Eagle blew my mind. Lambic in a grocery store?! *rubs eyes* It's true! There's Belgians in a grocery store! I don't shop here very often but the fact of the matter is that if I need a frozen pizza and a decent sixer then Giant Eagle is a godsend. I've never in my short life seen a grocery store that carries Chimay, Paulaner, Flying Dog, Unibrou, and Lindemans with the exception of John's Grocery in Iowa City which is more or less a beer store that has a selection of really old groceries. It's absolutely zany.
There really isn't any beer service to speak of but the staff of the store in general is pretty much what you would expect at a grocery store, highschoolers and 30 pluses clinging to the last bit of authority they will ever have.
It's not a beer hotspot or anything it's straight up an awesome grocery store which can generally be found within 10 minutes of anywhere in Ohio.

My wife and I usually shop at the Giant Eagle on Neil Ave. because it's closer to us, but we've come to prefer this one instead. Giant Eagle is one of the better grocery stores around town, nice and clean while still inexpensive. This one was remodeled less than a year ago. This Giant Eagle is quite large. They have an excellent selection of groceries, a great salad bar and cafe, and they incorporate more of their organic foods into the shelves themselves.
Service staff are nice and helpful. Just what you would hope for from a grocery store. They all seem to know the place quite well, so they can direct you anywhere quickly.
The beer and wine aisles are particularly big here. One whole walk-in cooler for the beer. Of course, cases of your standard American macrobrews are here, but they have a great selection of microbrews, too, from regional brews like Bell's, Great Lakes, and Columbus Brewing Company, to American and European beers like Guiness, Harp, Hoegaarden, Shiner, Newcastle, Anchor, and others.
Overall, this place is worth the extra five minute drive for shopping. It's large, but not overwhelming, nice and clean, and perfect for your grocery and beer needs.

This is right on 5th avenue which used to be the old Big Bear.
Stumbled on this one after they had just finished remodeling. What a nice little find.
Plenty of great sixers in coolers with a big walk-in cooler directly behind it. Solid offerings from Bell's, Sierra Nevada (the usual plus Celebration), Great Lakes, Abita, Sam Adams, Unibroue, Thirsty Dog, Gordon Biersch and a few others. The smallest you can get is sixers but the selection is nice.
Service is kind of hard to rate as I wasn't looking for any help. There were plenty of people available but they are the usual customer service people...no one dedicated to the beer or wine.
Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.
