A - Served a clear copper-orange color with a finger of frothy with head atop. Fades fairly slowly leaving behind quite a bit of lace.

S - Aroma is full of citrus and pine hips with some nice rye alongside. There is a touch of caramel malts in the background as well.

T - Starts off with some pine and grapefruit hops with some nice bitterness and some spiciness from the rye. Through the middle a bit more bitterness comes through with a bit more sweet caramel malt. Finish is a mix of rye and grapefruit hops with a bit of earthy hops as well that linger.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a nice dry and lightly spicy finish.

D - Very drinkable. The rye works really nicely alongside the hops. Really nice balance.

Good orange exterior, 1" white head. Aroma was hoppy, couldn't pull rye from it, but it had the citrusy hops. Amarillo, citra, they contribute to the aroma how they should.

Good mouthfeel of soft flavorful hops over bittering ones. Big alcohol, pushing the limit of a single ipa, really the caramel and alcohol make it an imperial prolly. Bomber format and name of the brewery are kind of lame.

This was one of the highest beer's that I have rated. It wasn't one of my favorites, but I respect what they've done with this one. It's good by all means, and they nail the rye malt with this one. I rated this high, because the malt wasn't overly sweet, and the rye with the bitter pine notes played perfect.

A - Served a clear copper-orange color with a finger of frothy with head atop. Fades fairly slowly leaving behind quite a bit of lace. Murky looking on the pour.

S - Aroma is full of citrus and pine hips with some nice rye alongside. There is a sweetness there, not like caramel, but in that family.

T - Starts off with some pine and grapefruit hops with some nice bitterness and some spiciness from the rye. The taste is there, full of rye, more so in any rye beer. I'm a big fan of Ruthless Rye from Sierra Nevada, but this one takes the cake.

Overall- This is solid all around, and for the price, it was top quality.

Picked this one up on a trip up to the bay. Pour is a ruddy orange, nice and opaque with a small half finger high head. Retention is decent and a film of lacing sticks around.

The aroma of the rye malt is off the charts, a pungent mix of spicy rye, red berries, orange marmalade sweetness and herbal hops. Slight alcohol presence.

Rye malt adds a spice note and red fruit and vineous flavors to a solid bready base. Hops are hard pressed to push back with herbal, dark citrus and pine notes in the flavor. Finish is dry with a bready aftertaste. Bitterness is matched with the sweetness of the malts.

Balanced but also on the hefty side. Appropriate carbonation and dries well. Alcohol is also kept in check.

If only all beers highlighted their specialty ingredients like this one. The rye malt is powerful on all fronts and I am no longer left guessing what rye adds to a beer, the question is whether I like it or not. This beer is very tasty and also on heavy and more balanced end of the IPA spectrum, there are some DIPAs that have less malt presence than this.

Poured a finger of tight head on a hazy, dark straw colored body. Looks great.
The aroma is wonderful: big and bright lemon and orange with a background of rye.
The taste has a bold citrus bitterness beginning to end. The spicy rye comes through in the middle really nicely.
The texture is thicker with moderate carbonation.
It's a great IPA with the rye done really well.

Thanks to kyle2k10 who violated my doorstep today with a marvelous box of beer full of barrel, hops, and...rye. Knocking off 7 wants. Yes, 7. This is the first to go down, 22 oz. bottle split with my wife.

Pour is an Razorback cousin of orange marmalade, with lighter orange on the top & deeper orange in the middle of the pint glass - freaky. Swirl, swirl, & stick in your schnazz. Mild earth, citrus, pine, orange, but not a lot of any of them.

Hops on Rye just touched me in a good place. Wooow. Bitter & sweet launch simultaneously at the point of impact on my tongue. Bitterness complemented by tropical fruit is mixed liberally with a sweet dollop of malt, sugary orange Sunkist. Rye wallop follows, a spicy whack to the back of the tongue. Earthy bitterness reasserts itself on the swallow, & it has a long, lingering finish. Ridiculously, over half my beer is gone in the few minutes I've been typing. I could drink this until I slid to the floor.

I think I'm in love. Best rye I've had since Rye of the Tiger, & the orange in this beer kicks it up a notch on the uniqueness scale. An absolute work of art.

Bottle courtesy of bbothen, thanks again!

Pours a hazy amber color with a pretty nice head.

Aromas are on the spicy side. Floral, grainy, and with some rye notes.

Taste is much like the nose. Grainy, and spicy with notes of rye bread. Finish is crisp and dry, with some general bitterness.

Mouthfeel is crisp, dry, with some decent carbonation.

Overall, a pretty good beer. But it seems one note, and lacks balance, all I really get is rye spiciness and bitter hops. Decent, but could use improvement, specifically a better malt backbone.
