Took a 35 minute drive south from the near southside of KC (plaza area) to check out the highest rated bottle shop as rated by BA.
I happen to live by the #2 grossing liquor store in the nation (Party Source in Northern KY/Cincinnati) and Lukas is very similar when it comes to beer and wine (not as much with liquor). This place has a huge selection of wine and what I imagine is the most comprehensive selection of beer in the area.
Of note would be ~12 bottles of Black Albert for $9 each (maybe not as hard to get as a year or two ago). Also was tempted by some of the special Odell's releases. I don't know if you could break up bottles to make your own sixer. They did have singles available in the chilled section - nothing exceptional though. I also felt the Belgian selection, while big, could have been more impressive but it's hard telling what they have access to.
It was ~100 degrees during my trip with heat index at 110 so I was limited with what I wanted to buy and keep in my car during meetings. I went with a Hanssens Oude Gueuze for $8 which I drank in my hotel that night.

A massive size liquor store in south KC. Back portion is dedicated to beer. Had a decent selection of Founders, Boulevard, Firestone Walker, Bells, and Stone. Didn't have too many of the select/limited beers there. My other complaint was that a number of the beers i was interested in purchasing had an older bottled on date than some of the other smaller liquor stores around town.
Overall, lots of quantity with average quality.

Was surprised that this seemed so far south from the center of the city. Oh well, stopped on a Saturday night and selection was broad and good as expected. It had a nice singles area, although as in many places I wish I could have a chance at getting singles of everything. The beers were both refrigerated in the back and kept out to the south end of the store. Glassware was also available. This seems to be the place to stop in KC for a beer haul. $171 I spent despite not really planning to spend much more than $50 coming in.
