I now work in Medway, so I have sampled the local Liquor stores on my lunch brake, and Liquor world seems to be the best in the neighborhood. I can’t say much for the staff seeing as I go in around noon time mid week, but the selection in pretty good, and its all lined up as soon as you walk into the store. At this point they still have some old guardian, and the price on bigfoot has slipped through the cracks at $9 or so a six-pack. Most of the prices aren’t much to write home about, but they are not out of hand. I would personally like to see more of a singles rack. they have a good bomber selection, but not much of the 12 oz variety. Overall not somewhere i would drive out of my way for, but a good place if you’re in the area, especialy for a comuter from RI

I was pleasantly surprised with this place. Liquor World in Medway is along my work route, which is how I am acclimated with it. As soon as you walk in, in front of you is a long aisle full of craft beer. From belgians to germans to english to american, they do have a nice lineup. DFH, Victory, Rochefort, Chouffe, Alesmith, Woodstock, Tuckermans, Middle Ages, Orval, Samuel Smith, Westmalle, BBC, Stone, Unibroue, etc..Prices are pretty decent as well. This is the only place around here that still has a bunch of Middle Ages Dragonslayer left in stock after the distributor sold the rights. Also had some Stone 10th for anyone who is interested. The manager was very friendly as well and appreciated the compliments.

EDIT (w/ score adjustment): More than five months after losing the store manager, the craft beer section has not picked back up. Prices have gone up, while the selection has diminished. Several out of code bottles fill the shelves. I purchased a few bad bottles of a particular beer and reported the date issue to the management but they continue to sell their old stock to unsuspecting consumers. I live in walking distance from this store but find myself traveling over twenty miles to buy my beer. The beer manager is the one highlight of this store. He's a great guy with a passion for beer. Unfortunately, the philosophy of the ownership is that "wine is king" and they do not care about the craft beer selection. If you are in the immediate area, it is still definitely worth a look. Just be cautious of certain over-priced selections, older seasonals and out of code bottles. Otherwise there are far better liquor stores within a twenty mile radius that actually care about craft beer consumers. 4/8/07

EDIT: The manager of this store resigned three months ago. The selection has been on a downward spiral ever since. It is rumored that the store owner is not interested in craft beer. The beer manager is fighting to keep the craft beer selection but until further notice, YMMV when visiting this store. 3/9/07

Apparently the craft beer section at Liquor World is relatively new. They are making great positive strides to make this a winner! The shelves are well organized and the store is very clean.

Over the summer, I've noticed a marked improvement in their turnover/freshness. I've also found that they are continuing to add great products such as Alesmith, Rochefort, Chimay, Westmalle, Ayingers, Chouffe, Stone, Dogfish Head, Victory, Middle Ages Brewing, Flying Dog, Moylans, Victory, Unibroue, He’Brew and more. Along with an impressive selection of regional brews, they offer a nice Belgian selection, an extensive macro selection and a growing import section with several new German and U.K. offerings.

They are planning various beer events in the future and they also welcome any requests for beers. I was told that if it can be distributed to Mass, they would carry it if requested! (Edit: Within days of my request, the shelves were stocked with my favorite brews). The staff is fairly interactive, with frequent tastings and a commitment to improving their offerings. The store manager and beer manager are friendly and knowledgeable and will take the time to know you by name. This is a store worth traveling for!
