On tap at Murrays at Manly, on my 28th birthday.

Pours a pale golden colour, bit of haze but slow bead as well. Head is white, medium density, good retention. Nice looking pils.

Smells largely hoppy. Lots of zip and zing from new world hops. Lime, pineapple, passion and touch of vanilla, all within a lighter lager shell, not heavy or cloying, just beautifully tanged up.

Taste is huge on the passionfruit upfront. That's the one note - fresh, seedy fruit character that descends into more stonefruity mid with peach and mango in there. Finish is slightly bitter, with a touch of booze flavour and some hop resins. Not quite clean enough for a pils, but there's lots of nice new world flavours here, mostly on the front.

Bit of carbonation sizzle to it on front and mid. A bit thin but a bit of presence on the finish.

The flavour is nice enough to carry this, but it's a little big for a pils and not quite big enough to be a knock your head off flavour bomb. Sits in 'pleasant beer limbo', but quite comfortably I think.

350? mL pour from Murray's@Manly.

Golden orange, bright and clear, with a smallish white head that may have been restricted by the pouring method.

Intriguing blend of nicely rounded fruity and floral hops with a light and crisp malt backing.

Similar flavours. Very elegant and satisfying.

Super clean and refreshing with the fuller body (compared to a regular Pilsner) increasing the enjoyment level and not detracting from the drinkability one jot.

Until now I was somewhat dubious about the big/Imperial/double/whatever Pilsner style - but this works. Simultaneously subtle and punchy, with everything just as it should be.

Crystal clear pale straw colour with a small, short lasted white head.

Light NZ hop aroma with distinct passionfruit notes. Mild pils malt.

Light clean and crisp. There is a touch of sweetness on the palate which complements the fruity hops. There is no evidence that this is a 7.1% beer. Very good.

Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Crisp and refreshing.

A solid lager with lots of nice flavour. Really good flavour and a nice new take on a strong lager.

310ml tulip glass from the Local Taphouse, Darlinghurst.

Pours a true Old gold colour with a fluffy, white head of foam that laces well.

Nice modest fruit aroma, fruit salad mostly, particularly as it warms.

Booze is very well hidden, nice hop finish, solid blend between the hops and malt.

Body matches the style well, nice feel too, the NZ hops aren't ripping at the throat.

Overall a good example of new world hops in a relatively underemployed style.
