Poured from a 500ml bottle into a Weizen glass. Reviewed live.

A- Finger width white head with the cloudy orange body of a Hefeweizen. Medium retention, watery lacing.

S- Sugary esters, banana and cloves. Pungent and sweet.

T- Sugary and a bread-like body that finishes with little linger. Not as great as some other hefs I've had but not bad.

M- Bready quality and chewy carbonation. Quite nice.

O- Another day, another hef. This one is good but not great in my opinion.

Out of a bottle this beer was a cloudy, corn-gold color with one finger of white head. The billowy foam retained itself well and left thin bands of lacing. The aroma was of wheat, fresh grains, banana, bubblegum and a lighter note of cloves. The flavors were of wheat, slightly sweet malt, banana and clove in that descending order with a final, pleasant touch of grassy hops that helped to round it out. Balanced and enjoyable. Strangely, I began this beer as a stand-alone and then started to eat a quiche with it thinking it would improve the experience. Something about this combo failed miserably. I thought I’d misinterpreted the beer but upon removing the food I once again found it to be solid, all-around. The mouthfeel was good, the body medium and the carbonation frothy. A good example of the style and inexpensive too.

Poured from pint bottle into weizen glass. Straw yellow with two and half finger head.

This beer was an awesome partner to the Knackwurst platter I was enjoying for lunch. The mouthfeel of the beer was moderate and very drinkable. The typical Hefe smells were throughout the brew: cloves, banana, etc. The taste was banana, bubble gum, and a slight peppery finish.

Great introduction to hefeweizen for a beginner.

Bottle purchased from Piccadilly in Champaign, IL.
No obvious bottled-on date.
Poured into a Schell's weizen glass.

Beer has a huge off-white head that's very frothy, almost like meringue. Declines over many minutes to a constant 0.5cm cap. Leaves some good lacing on glass sides, streaks and blotches. Body is quite light, a golden yellow in the shadows and a faint yellow when held up to a light. Hazy from the yeast, though I can still see my hand through the glass. Not as yeast-intensive as other weizens? Carbonation noticeable, despite the haze, and quite active.

Aroma is fairly simple: fairly watery wheat/barley malt, yeast, lemon citrus, applesauce. Compared to other hefeweizens, this is rather tame, almost lacking.

Taste opens with some light sweetness that fades into lemon, faint yeastiness and banana, all a bit watery, but still above average. Taste fades fairly quickly on the palate, leaving a fairly cracker-like aftertaste with very faint residual esters and sweetness. Tartness lingers in the back-sides of the palate.

Medium-bodied with a carbonation level that is satisfying for the moderate heaviness of this beer. Feels smooth and fairly creamy on the palate. Finish is dry and slightly tart. A refreshing beer overall.

While this was very easy to drink, it seemed lacking in aroma and taste relative to other hefeweizens that I've had. Overall, just above average for the style.

Cloudy, light yellow with a huge, foamy white head & some lacing.

Some banana, wheat, vanilla and cloves on the nose upfront that all work well together along with an overall sweetness. There is a little spice but I felt that the beer could have been slightly stronger smelling.

Lots of vanilla and banana upfront in the taste, this is followed by the wheat and clove from the nose. There is a background citrus aroma too but I would say this is just an average tasting hefeweizen.

Smooth, medium body and carbonation, it is a pleasant beer to drink & is quite refreshing.

An average wheat beer in my books, it is nice and drinkable but I feel that there are many others out there that are simply better than this one.

A: nice looking beer, straw color cloudy yellow with medium carbonation. The head is big and white in color dissipates slowly and leaves a small layer on top of the beer.

S: the smell is not too complex is very simple just wheat with some citrus.

T: flavor is also very straight not very complex wheat is the main ingredient with some little spices inside little citrus can be sensed but not too intense.

M: this is a refreshing one not bad at all, good neutral sensation with medium starting and balanced ending not sweet nor bitter.

Pours light yellow with some haze from the yeast. The head is thick creamy bodied. There are some floaters in here as well.

Smells of french vanilla and bananas blended in some yeast and spices. I really like this nose it is a bit off the style but I'm ok with it. Also this rather strong smelling which is nice for a lot of reasons.

Rather different flavor here. Opens with a rather tame sweet hint of hops beer. Things then finish with intense bananas, sugars, ginger, and yes bubble gum. This isn't anything like a normal hefe by any stretch. The flavors are all close, but they don't blend the same way most do, the bubble gum is very different with intense flavors at different times.

Thick density, but lacks the thickness and creamy impact for the style

This is an interesting beer.. A lot of style, but it doesn't work well together.

Serving type for this was bottle. Very good appearance with a cloudy yellowish/orange color. Foam head dissipated rather quickly.

However, what sets this beer apart from most hefeweizens is the smell. This beer has, bar-none, the best aroma in any other beer I tasted...it's a beautiful combination of citrus fruits and the malted wheat.

Unfortunately the excellent aroma doesn't translate as hoped to the taste of the beer, which nevertheless is pretty good but a bit on the spicy end and leaving a very citrus fruit-like aftertaste.

16.9 ounce bottle - $2.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a goodly-hazed, dark golden body with a tall, airy, whitish head.

Smell: An underpowered aroma, as no amount of eager sniffing reveals more than faintly bready hints of malted wheat with a sweetish hook to it.

Taste: Malted wheat with sweet inclusions of honey candy and a small, small hint of light caramel. Hops present pressed flowers in a young girl's diary and a minute spiciness. Low bitterness. Faint lemon, even fainter hint of clove, and nearly nil 'nanas. Lightly sweet, malty finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Moderate carbonation, somewhat fluffy mouthfeel.

Overall: THHW goes down just fine, but it came across as a bit lacking, sadly, and woefully washed out in its overall flavor.

A - The beer pours with two fingers of dense, white foam on top of a hazy, dark golden colored body. The head settles at a moderate pace and leaves average lace.

S - Spicy wheat with some grainy pilsner character underneath. Notes of honey, clove, and banana in the background.

T - Dense malt notes of honey and smooth wheat up front with some yeasty notes of clove. A bit of banana character comes out in the middle. Spicy clove and pepper notes continue through the finish with more banana and thick malt.

M - Medium-thick body, moderate carbonation, and a fairly sweet finish.

D - Drinkable, with all of the standard flavor characteristics of the style, it almost becomes a bit citrusy in the finish and it kind of reminds me of a witbier by the time it gets to the aftertaste. Not my favorite weizen, but a decent one nonetheless.

11.2 oz. Bright gold pour, solid finger of white head.

Aroma is very German lager like. Some hay, wheat I suppose. Light caramel, malt, citrus.

Taste is quite malty and bready at first. Citrus and slight spice, clove, corriander break the sweetness slightly. Really wasn't expecting it from the aroma. Void of the overwhelming banana American version overload on, which is just fine with me. Some may not care for this though.

Lively enough light yet chewy body. The body is the strongest point of this brew. Goes down real nice, refreshing without all that sticky banana.

A - Pours a hazy yellow with a nice inch of fluffy head with pretty sticky lacing.

S - Smells of Grains, slight wheat and a great bit of citrus.

T- Wow a Helles Hefeweizen works pretty well. I get a slight bit of grains that are light compared to most Helles lagers that comes off sweet then turns to a bit of lemon peel. It does finish with a bit of wheat and sadly no banana.

M - Light to medium bodied. Drinks rather well.

Overall I was very surprised on this and maybe might track down the other Hefeweizen hybrids. Very different and drinkable beer.

A: Cloudy pale color coupled with a large white head.

S: Sweet fruits, like banana, are present, as well as distnictive citrus smell. Very pleasant smell all and all.

T: The taste has some malts, not much, as one would expect from a Hefeweizen. A hint of sweetness, and a very distinctive wheat flavor makes this beer one of the best Hefewaizens I have enjoyed, ever!

M: Mouthfeel is very good. Just the right amount of carbonation to produce nice medium-sized bubbles. A fine blend of aromas and flavors are brought together in this Bavarian delight.

O: A good exapmle of a true Bavarian-style Hefewaizen. If you like wheat beer, it doesn't get much better than this.

Poured a 1/2" head. Hazy pale yellow body. Smell and taste have both citrus and spice. Frankly the bar served it to me with a lemon wedge on the edge, which maybe the tradition (?) but it seems to me like hedging the bet the beer will have the citrus taste or not. Medium-light body and medium finish. All in all a decent hefe weizen but I don't see it as a standout from the rest.

Why do they call this Malt Liquor on the bottle? Almost didn't try it. Picked up a couple at $1 each at the Navy Post Exchange in Spain. Pleasantly surprised. Nice head, cloudy yellowish appearance and floral sweet hefe scent. Well worth the dollar. Taste is spicy, malty, and wheaty. Why not call it a wheat liquor? Mouthfeel is light body and carbonated nicely. Overall a decent hefe, a great value, and something I will be picking up for the beach. Refreshing late spring beer. Cheers.

500mL bottle poured into a Hefe glass.

(A)- Pours a hazy brilliant yellow color. Produced a good cap of frothy white foam. Fair retention.

(S)- A mildly dry profile with an awesome burst of lemon, banana, wheat, and bubblegum. Finishes in a dry biscuit aspect.

(T)- Very yeasty and dry. Earthy, with tons of wheat and a grassy clove-like bite.

(M)- A huge effervescent carbonation level. Very dry with a fairly aggressive grassy earthy bitterness for the style.

(D)- An in your face Hefe. On the far end spectrum of dry, earthy, and yeasty parts that carries a bitterness with it uncharacteristic of the style. Not bad, but far from the best of the style.

A spicy heffe we have here. Cloudy dark straw colored beer with thin white head that retains constantly throughout the drinking experience. It leaves nice creamy walls. Beautiful for the style. The smell is lacking on banana notes, though they are faintly in the background. It is dominated by spice. Clove and black pepper, citrus, lemon and orange zest. Good grainy wheat aroma throughout. The taste follows with being spice dominated. Again with clove and black pepper. Banana is on the back of the tounge but not as much as I would like. Its a little thin and watery even for this style. Citrus notes perk it up some with lemon rind and orange zest. Not as creamy a body as I would like for this style. Very drinkable, but slightly spicy and watery. Wish it had more banana.

Served in a strange. Thin white head that never diminishes and rides down to glass bottom. One large sweeping arc of foam splayed upon the glass. I'd like a bigger, sexier head.

Aroma is more clove and pepper than banana. Husky.

My banan-o-meter is once again sadded by the lack of 'nana phenols. Clove and lemon zest dominate. Mouthfeel is thick and smooth but snappy yeast and carbonation could make this a summertime chug fest.

Not one of those give me a spoon for my banana pudding hefs that I prefer but a solid, easy drinking one in its own right.

.5L, best before 1/9/12.

Pours pale for a Hefeweizen, though still orangey and cloudy. Nice creamy head, with great lacing and solid retention.

The aroma is lightly spicy and floral, with a powdery sweetness. Some ripe fruit.

Flavor is wheaty and yeasty, with more of an emphasis on tartness when compared to other examples of the style. Slightly peppery, and well balanced and not too sweet. Banana flavor is restrained but present. The mouthfeel is a tad chalky, but the carbonation is medium-high and effervescent.

With its balance and light, refreshingly tart character, the Tucher is a superior-drinking Hefeweizen.

[Best served in a Weizen glass]

Poured a murky yellow with an average sized white creamy head that was mostly lasting and had excellent lacing. The aroma was very strong of a doughy yeast and citrus hops with notes of wheat and banana's. It tasted exquisite of nice sweet yeast and malts at first and ended with this intense creamy yeast flavor with hints of fruit with the flavor staying on the palate for a nice while. Mouthfeel was extra creamy in texture and light to medium in body with a very mild carbonation. Overall one of the best Hefeweizen's I have sampled so far.

Bottle at Big T's in Lawton, Michigan. Served in a restaurant-branded pint glass.

Hard pour into the pint glass yielded a really nice three-finger head atop a hazy light golden brew. Plenty of sticky lacing as the beer made its way down the glass. The nose was a bit tame with only mild clove presence. Instead, the banana and bubblegum were more toward the forefront. Still, a bit light overall. The flavor was a bit bready with some mild yeast. Nothing too exciting. The feel was light to medium without the requisite level of spritzy carbonation I love in a hefe. Also, the lack of clove spice was a disappointment. Overall, this was a nice brew with dinner, though not something I would seek out again.
