From a 500ml bottle into my crystal mug. Date is scored but makes no sense, and not just because it’s in German. Maybe it’s supposed to be a lot number…. Anyhow, it’s a clear golden color with numerous tiny bubbles. Huge white head caps it and fades slowly leaving a thick cap and heavy lace. In fact, a lot of foam remains in the bottle, and some even snuck out when uncapping. Nose of light malt and citrus with light breadiness. Rather lackluster bouquet. Tastes wheaty and bready with light citrus and moderate hops. Clean, slightly bitter finish, it’s a couple notches above average in the flavor department. Mouth is smooth and crisp with full but not overwhelming carbonation; it’s a bit watery but not thin. Drinkability is very good overall. It’s a light, mild and satisfying brew. Pleasant drinker, easily sessionable.

Overall: A good German “Kristall Weizen,” which I am guessing to be a filtered hefe. Tasty and enjoyable, a good summer drinker, worth a try but not really something I’d stock up on unless I could find it for a good case price. (1,069 characters)

Pours to a pale yellow with a foamy white head that dissipated fairly quickly but left decent lacing. Nose is a light mixture of wheat, yeast, floral and a hint of bubblegum. Mouthfeel is muted and only slightly tingly. Taste is har dto pick up, as nothing from the nose really stands out. Finsih, while pleasant, is fairly non-descript, although the beer is a nice thirst quencher. (382 characters)

Serving Type- bottle poured into a 0.5L weissen glass

appearance- A very pale straw color with a decent head

smell- very fruity of banana and pineapple.

taste/mouthfeel- light body, high carbonation, crisp taste. taste of the banana and pineapple with hits of hops and spice, though much less of the flavor. My girl friend loves pineapple, so she enjoyed this beer very much. I on the other hand found it to be average.

drinkability- easy to drink, although i wanted a bit more. still, worth it (500 characters)

M first stab at this style...seems like a dumbed down Hefe with less flavor..decent banana nose with some cloves...pours gold...pretty clear...nice foamy white lace that rims the glass...medium bodied with medium carbonation...not as jazzed up as some Hefe's..taste is banana mainly with a real clean, crisp finish....almost lagerish...(maybe it is, I'm not real versed on this style)...decent, but doesn't pack enough punch in the flavor department for my liking...I like it, but prefer a good Hefe.... (503 characters)

A- 1 inch head, a golden look with some activity

S- A very nice crisp citrus nose.

T- Crisp and fruity with slight sweet and bitter notes.

M- Very active almost too much where it starts to overwhelm the flavors

D- Light and easy these would go down very quick. (272 characters)

(served in a weizen glass)
A- The crystal clear yellow body has a strong carbonation strands of microbubbels leading up to a thick white head of cream foam that last a bit.
S- The light clean white bread note has a faint sulfury green note in the finish.
T- The light fruity flavor malt has a note of clove to it and a dry clean flavor and a light tartness in the finish. There is a taste of mineral water that comes through as the beer opens up.
M- The light mouthfeel has a tight fizzy and a slightly water texture.
D- This beer is really nothing without all the yeast character that its cloudy cousin has. It is a bit bland without much character. (655 characters)

Typical Euro pint glass styled bottle, served into a normal sized beer mug.

a-Extremely healthy head, more head than beer, great retention, very little lacing, almost clear yellow colour

s-yeasty, slightly metallic? crisp, sweet.

t & m-Crisp and smooth, slightly metallic aftertaste, bubblegum, slight banana, not as sweet as I was expecting, lemony, very little hop presence.

d-A quite decent kristalweisen, would not likely buy again due to Weinstephaner kristalweisen being just as accessible to me. Still a very drinkable beer and would drink if offered to me again. (582 characters)

[Best served in a Weizen glass]

Poured a medium sparkling clear amber with a large white rocky head that was fully diminishing and had good lacing. The aroma was heavy with yeast, a mild herbal hop and a straw malt with a slight note of banana and clove. It tasted midly bitter yet very smooth at first and finished with a nice yeast flavor with just an ever so slight hint of banana that stayed with you only a short time. Mouthfeel was light in body and watery yet creamy in texture with a nice soft carbonation. Overall a very nice refreshing brew. (552 characters)

Pint bottle pours a clear, honey gold, with a billowy, two finger, white head that looks like frozen shaving cream. Nice, patchy lacing down the glass. Aroma is lemony citrus and wheat grain. Mouthfeel is highly carbonated and light to medium bodied. Taste is citrusy refreshing, with lemon in the starring role. Some noticeable yeastiness is present, and a moderate amount of spiciness comes through in the middle, and lasts to the finish. It all ends up dry and spicy, with a lemonrind aftertaste. Not the greatest in style, but I wouldn't turn one down. (556 characters)

1 Pt. Bottle.

Golden clean look with an airy white head. Musty malt smell. Light taste with hints of malt and yeast. It is refreshing, and would be great in warm weather. But does not overly impress me ... (211 characters)

My buddy in Coral Springs Florida sent me this one from his local Whole Foods selection. Each time I am in south FLA, I seem to always have a bottle of Tucher in my hand. This was my first Kristall of the wheat family.

A: Poured, as advertised, a clear straw golden with a muscular white head, moving down into a well placed cap. Decent lacing and high retention.

S: Mild wheat malt, cloves and esters well in the background, difficult to find.

T: Follows the nose, grainy for the most part, and citrus undertones, but all quite mellow as the style is known for.

M: Light and crisp with tangy finish from the retention and lemon citrus accents.

D: Farily good for a light wheat beer. Even on hot days, I prefer the full weiss with all of it's bananas and cloudy yeasty nature. A good wheat starter for those who think the elder brother is too pungent. Sometime NYC area will have this available(hint hint). (912 characters)

look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: Stunningly clear, pale gold color. Good head and exceptional lacing.

Smell: Hefe-weizen like aromas, as expected. Banana, cloves, bubble gum. Definitely toned down a bit from the filtering, however.

Taste: Not expecting a whole lot of flavor just judging from the appearance (very clear and light). There is flavor, however - like a hefeweizen, but more subdued. A hint of tartness as well, reminiscent of cider.

Mouthfeel: Fairly light, almost watery. Carbonation is fine. I wasn't the only one to comment on the too light mouthfeel when sampling.

Drinkability: On the whole, I think I prefer Erdinger's kristal weizen. Accessible, for sure. A touch disappointing, though maybe I'm just not a fan of the style. (735 characters)

Pours a clear golden color with a 1 inch foamy white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy patches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of wheat, banana, and slight spice aromas. Taste is of wheat, spices, yeast, and subtle banana flavors on the finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but the aromas and flavors are somewhat subtle. (440 characters)

Appearance is darker shade of gold with a thick white head. The head disipated quickly and left a small foamy layer on the top.

Smell is yeasty. Reminisent of some Belgian yeast strains I've smelled.

Tatste is quite yeasty as well. Soft, bread like with notes of honey. Also a bit flowery.

Mouthfeel is crisp. Bubbles are a bit sharp.

Drinkabilty is good. Very subtle flavors but by no means flavorless. (416 characters)

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a weizen glass. Reviewed from notes.

A-Two finger white head. Kind of weak retention. Pale golden color, wonderful clarity. Medium carbonation.

S- Some banana and cloves, golden wheat. Quite nice.

T- Light with some slight booziness. Tastes a little darker than a hefeweizen but still wheaty. Bready tones.

M- Thick, almost chewy body from the breadiness.

O- Not great, but above average and very drinkable. (446 characters)

Pours a golden color that is clear. Maybe a shade on the lighter side. Massive head that goes down slow an unevenly. Smell is a classic malt liquor that is not weak, but not extreme either. Taste is a little watered down malt liquor. About the same after taste of a classic malt liquor and as drinkable as a classic malt liquor. Verdict: If you have never tried malt liquor or rarely drink it, it would be a tossup between this and "The Bull" for a classic malt liquor taste. (475 characters)

Tucher Kristall Weizen was a golden color with a generous two finger, cream shaded head that displayed good retention.

The aroma was wheat, a little lagerish, and completely inoffensive.

The taste was sweet malt, smooth with no after taste. There was a fruit taste at the back of the throat that I could not quite identify, not lemon, maybe mango? More sweet than sour or bitter though.

The mouth feel was light bodied with sufficient carbonation.

With an ABV of less than 5.5 and a satisfying flavor, Tucher KW is very drinkable.

A solid effort and I was happy that bananas were not a dominating flavor. (614 characters)

Poured from a 16.9 oz bottle into a Weizen glass.

Appearance: The Kristall Weizen pours a delicate golden color, more robust in the thicker parts of the glass. A thick fluffy white head forms immediately, fading to leave a 2 cm head remaining. Noticeable perpetual carbonation rises from the bottom of the glass to keep the head fresh.

Smell: Light lemon notes, but the main aroma is floral. Not a strong smell overall, but it seems to drift casually up from the beer.

Taste: A smooth, mostly floral wheat taste from start to finish. Hints of lemon zest and bananas poke their way through as well. There is not much of a hop presence, not that I would expect much in a hefeweizen like this.

Mouthfeel: Definitley a smooth feel; the carbonation and wheat flavor give it a light, pleasant feel on the tongue.

Drinkability: The light floral flavors do not really move me, but that is probably a comment on the style more than this one in particular. A solid brew, but not one that I am really going to go out of my way to buy. (1,031 characters)

This is a clear case (no pun intended) where the kristal is nowhere near as good as the hefe. This one justs falls flat (almost literally). Thin, almost watery. Nowhere near the flavor of the hefe. Certainly refreshing, this would actually make a great step-up for a macro-drinker. (281 characters)

clear darker gold color, with a few very large flakes floating around. huge foamy head that stays. ample carbonation produces lots of foamy lace too. clean aroma of wheat malt and yeast. tastes of very clean wheat malt flavors, with the slight obligatory cloves and slight fruit. a little higher hop bitterness than regular hefe's. very easy drinking, making for high drinkability. i'm in the camp that likes their wheat brews thick and rich with lots of creamy smoothness. these krystal brews seem like the "light" beers of the wheat style. very good anyway! (559 characters)

A - Poured into a weizen glass. Indeed, a very clear....nay, extremely clear blonde. Huge billowing foam, good lacing. Appearance is actually quite striking.

S - Not as banana- or clove-oriented as a hefe. Standard wheat with notes of plastic.

T - Kind of plain. Bready wheat and not much else. Tasty but plain.

F - Without the yeast, I feel that feel takes a hit. Seems a bit soft and watery.

D - Aside from the pretty looks, nothing too distinguishing. Very easy to drink, though; it might not be a bad session choice. It may also find favor with those who don't think beer should look cloudy. Certainly not a bad beer, though. (637 characters)

A clear, yellow-orange pour with a frothy white head. The aroma has banana, cloves, and some bread. The light body has a slightly thin texture with average carbonation. The taste is on the sweet side with only a hint of hop bitterness right before the finish. This is a good thirst quencher on warm days. (304 characters)

When I usually think of Kristall Weizens, I think of American Pale Wheat Ales, but better. As this beer opens, a good healthy dose of Pilsner malts, medium wheat aromas and flavors, and a mild hint of grain flavor. While the esters, phenolics, and overall strong yeast character is timid, the bready / malty notes shine. The beer isn't without all esters though; I get a nice lemon character, followed up by a peppery, bubble-gummy note that gives a lot of variety to the beer. The filtering does strip much viscocity from the beer, making it less creamy and full, but does make for a beer that is easier to drink without bloating. Finishes quite clean, but with a light grain / wheat blend and a lingering lemon flavor. Nice beer. (731 characters)

A: The beer is clear golden yellow in color and has a high amount of visible carbonation. It poured into a weizen glass with a two finger high head that died down but has good retention properties as it never disappeared altogether.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of apples, bananas, lemons and clove in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell with added flavors of wheat and a slight amount of sweetness.
M: It feels light-bodied and smooth on the palate with a high amount of carbonation.
D: The beer is very easy to drink, refreshing and thirst quenching. (566 characters)
