Poured from a brown 16.9 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is very weak, some muted banana. Nothing weak about the taste. Banana, spices, wheat, refreshing and delicious. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a good quality beer.

gettin' back to basics- this is what i was raised on.... does anyone else miss the spaten club-weisse?
pours an awesome white head, pure gold color of brew.
smell . . . . GERMAN. plain and simple
taste . . . GERMAN. plain and simple. geez, i had gotten away from these for too long.... belgium is a great place to visit, but too rich to stay....
mouthfeel is medium with a little bit of carbonation.
overall, it's a decent beer, and one that just may take me back to where i think my heart yearns to be. lower abv than i'm accustomed to lately with all the belgiums and trippels, but there's always whiskey, right?

Appearance - Pours a clear, brilliant golden color with a thick, white 2 finger head. Good retention. The resulting lace is thin, but consistent and with a bit of stick.

Smell - Aroma is distinctly European. Notes are clean and somewhat floral, with hints of bublegum and, to a lesser extent, banana and mild clove spice.

Taste - Mellow, with notes of bubblegum and banana at the forefront. Undetone of clove spice throughout. Mid-taste a solid note of butter toffee hits the palate and rides into the finish.

Mouthfeel - Light to medium body, backed by a bubbly carbonation which keeps it fresh and lively. Quite slick on the tongue, likely due to some diacetyl.

Overall - Awesome crystal wheat; one of the best ones I've had. Will buy again. Very refreshing. Their regular hefe and dunkel are average; this one is superb!

Poured from 1 Pint bottle to weizen glass.

A: Light and clear, with medium carbo. Full 1+" foamy head, but faded quicky. Lacing was pretty good, with medium retention.

S: Bananas!

T: Bananas again, but with yeast, subtle apricots, and a punch of cloves at the end.

M: A little on the bready side, not really heavy, just right for the style. The carbonation disapated quickly though, last few sips were a little flat.

O: Not usually a weizen fan, but this one is actually pretty good. Great for a warm late-summer day. Very nice.

Light golden color with a durable white head that leaves exceptional lacing.

M: thin with medium-high but soft carbonation; this sounds like a soda but the feel of this beer is fine for the style.

The aroma features plenty of banana and cloves. As expected then, the flavor is fruity with banana, vague light fruit juice, and yeast. Perhaps true enough to style but a bit under-hopped for my tastes.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a weizen glass. Reviewed from notes.

A-Two finger white head. Kind of weak retention. Pale golden color, wonderful clarity. Medium carbonation.

S- Some banana and cloves, golden wheat. Quite nice.

T- Light with some slight booziness. Tastes a little darker than a hefeweizen but still wheaty. Bready tones.

M- Thick, almost chewy body from the breadiness.

O- Not great, but above average and very drinkable.

Let's make today a "Tucher Day", and why not? It's great weather for those German wheat ales, and I have yet to penetrate the Tucher brand. Coming out of a 500 ml bottle, on to the beer:

Simply beautful out of the bottle. Sparkling golden yellow color, clear (duh!), a dazzling show of large carbonaton bubbles running through the body, and a head that is fluffy in texture that dissipates slowly. Retention is okay, lacing is spotty. The nose is appealing as well. In fact, it smells almost like a weizen WITH the yeast, but more subtle. Soft notes of banana, clove, cinnamon, and lemon break in.

Good tasting. It's a fun mix of baking spices (clove, cinnamon) and bread. Banana is subtle. There's a hint of bubblegum too. A little spice hangs around in the aftertaste, but otherwise this is quite clean. Light bodied and gently carbonated despite the show of bubbles in the beer's body.

This is a very good beer overall, but for the kristalweizen style, this might be the best one that I've found so far. Well worth the wait.

Nice rocky white head poured into a tall pilsner glass. Smell is of banana, raisin, fruitcake, CO2. Super light, refreshing and smooth on the palate. Really cool and sparkly. Very mild and satisfying finish with a thirst quenching, light mouthfeel. Excellent. Good beer for a hot day. PERFECT stepping off point for a "regular" beer drinker. It has all of the good points and none of the bad of your everyday beer.

Purchased: Single from Liquor Express, Huntsville AL

A: Clear, sparkling straw color. Head is rocky, 5+ fingers and white, showing good retention and lacing.

S: Sweet biscuit wheat malts and typical weizen aromas of banana fruit and bubble gum. Also smell a little lemon, hay and light hops.

T/M: Nice clean taste of wheat malts, with a lively carbonation. Moderate sweetness with a pleasant fruit character. Body is medium and creamy in texture. The finish is sweet with also a bit of a tangy quality.

O: I enjoyed this kristall weizen and would recommend it. Perfect for the end of a summer's day.

Pours a clear golden color with a 1 inch foamy white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy patches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of wheat, banana, and slight spice aromas. Taste is of wheat, spices, yeast, and subtle banana flavors on the finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but the aromas and flavors are somewhat subtle.

Bottle purchased from Hyvee in Council Bluffs, IA.
No bottled-on date visible.
Poured into a Weihenstephaner weizen glass.

BIllowing white head, >4cm, collapses to thin ring atop body of beer. Leaves copious lacing on sides of glass. Body golden yellow, totally transparent, very bright hue. Carbonation very active, very visible.

Smells of lemon citrus, floral hops, clean wheat malt. Very clean, uplifting aroma. Bubblegum, bananas present, of a medium intensity.

Sharp, tart, clean. Not quite as tart as a Berlinerweisse, but about 1/4 of the way there. Fruity, slight bananas, slight malt character.

Medium-bodied throughout, medium-level carbonation, high enough to be felt, but not painful or ill-fitting to the body. Crisp and clean, with a dry finish.

Surprisingly very good. Definitely drinkable, enjoyable, would seek out and have again.

Pours a clear gold body with a big white head that is very frumpy and long-lasting, and laces the glass in puffy clumps. Aromas are very subdued. I get some sweet wheat and general graininess, but not much else besides some light bananas and cloves. The banana and cloves express themselves more distinctly on the palate, which is sweet up front before leading to a very chalky finish with an unusual texture. This is an intriguing beer. One well worth investigating to see if one of its challenging corners is particularly appealing to you.

A: Very bright looking, clear light yellow color filtered as must according to the style. Carbonation is vivid forming a permanent withe layer on top after a big to medium head that dissipates slowly and leaves some traces behind on the glass.

S: The aroma is very clear, medium intensity but definitely banana and wheat can be detected at once.

T: Very good flavor, wheat is present all the time with some orange peel or some other citrus, also the banana is there.

M: The beginning is neutral, balanced with some tending to sweet as per the style changing a little at the end to a faint bittersweetness.

Appearance: Poured into a weizen glass. The color is a clear, clean medium straw, almost light gold. Three fingers of white head dissipated fairly quickly for a wheat beer, leaving a thin lacing and ring around the edge.

Smell: Lots of ripe banana and apple. There is also strawberry, bubblegum, yeast, and cloves.

Taste: The taste is much more yeasty/bready than the smell. The mouthfeel is like the beer was never filtered. The fruit flavors of banana, apple, and strawberry are present. The bubblegum and cloves, though, are not as prominent.

Drinkability: It is a good brew, but I am not too impressed. On the spectrum of Bavarian wheat beers, it probably falls smack dab in the middle. Which is still saying a lot. Few American wheats have this much character. And I hang my head in shame.

T: very nice wheat flavour, crisp on tongue, complex and balanced among sweetness, citrusy and bitterness, medium-light body. semi dry finish

Poured the 16oz bottle into my Weizen glass. This beer has a translucent golden light color, very pilsner-like. Two-finger head dissipated rather quickly. Nose was very light fruit smell that translated into the mouth: hops, wheat, and light flavor with an initial fruit punch of bananas and citrus on the tongue with a carbonation feel at the end that doesn't get in the way of enjoying it. Like some pilsners and lagers this beer goes down very easy.

This beer is probably one of the best in its style, highly recommended.

500 mL bottle into a Franziskaner Weizen glass.

A: It pours "kristall" clear with a three finger head of white foam.

S: Herbal hops, cereal, cloves, and strong yeastiness.

T: Light grassy hoppiness, a little banana taffy, cloves, and some other light fruity tastes.

M: Medium-light body with a very smooth finish.

O: This is more flavorful than expected and is delightfully light and delicious.

16.9 ounce bottle - $2.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours clear, golden in appearance, with a tall, foamy, whitish head.

Smell: Sweetish nose, smelling of malted wheat, natch, with a faroff hint of lemon drop candy.

Taste: Middling maltiness, lightly wheaty, with very, very, very small touches of light-colored caramel and honey. Moderately sweet. Near nil lemon included, but, sorry, not really picking up any spice, banana, hop character, and bitterness. Just a fairly clean beer throughout. Sweetish taste of honey wheat loaf on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium (just barely) carbonation.

Overall: About average for a kristalweizen, and, when tried side-by-side with Tucher's underpowered hefe, I preferred actually this.

Poured from bottle into weizen glass. Pilsner yellow, clear w/ a huge, rocky head of medium bubbles that leaves big patchy blotches of lace. Nose is fruity and spicy, mild banana predominates w/ a hint of allspice or clove. The flavor here is a little watered down w/ a hint of tartness and alight banana cream flavor being just about all this has to off. Lack of off flavors and brisk enough carbonation keep it quaffable which is I guess pretty much what you want out of a kristall.

A clear, yellow-orange pour with a frothy white head. The aroma has banana, cloves, and some bread. The light body has a slightly thin texture with average carbonation. The taste is on the sweet side with only a hint of hop bitterness right before the finish. This is a good thirst quencher on warm days.

Appearance: Light and clear as a Kristall should be.

Smell: Lacking in banana ester. Smells grainy

Taste: Minimal phenolic and estery flavors. Taste is more like a helles lager than a weiss bier.

Mouthfeel: carbonation is too high for this style and dulls out the classic weizen flavors even more.

Drinkability: Drinkable but not really enjoyable. Weihenstephaner has a much better example of this style.

A: The pour is a clear pale golden straw color with a moderate amount of white foam.

S: Intensely sweet nose. It mostly smells like banana candy (banana flavored runts seem to be a good comparison). Minimal wheat and bread and almost no spice notes at all.

T: Surprisingly, the flavor is much, much better. Nice banana and clove esters with a moderate sweetness of wheat and bread. There is a little bit of clove in there, but still restrained compared to other beers of the style.

M: Medium in body with a moderate carbonation.

O: Nice wheat beer here. The nose was a little off-putting, but a nice flavor.

Appearance: Four fingers of creamy off-white head; average retention. little lacing; crystal clear dark yellow color; bubbles ascending in beautiful bunches.

Smell: Ripe banana, hops, hints of nuts.

Taste: Subtle and nice; barley malt, some hop bitterness; no bread, but some wheat crackers, and perhaps pop-corn; lemony tartness; dry, pilsner-like finish.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium - yet fuller than many lagers; carbonation is abundant, but not more than I would wish for.

Drinkability: Goes easily down one's throat, and every sip leaves you wanting another one. Combines a hefeweizen's intrigue and a pilsner's freshness.

This is my first kristallweizen, and I like it. Wouldn't mind some more wheat-ness though.
