Deep mahogany color -- rich, burnt flavor that leaves a charred aftertaste (not a bad thing, almost like lukewarm Colombian coffee).

I enjoyed this (with a friend) from the bowl of a wine-style beer glass (Duchesse du Bourgogne). Like others have stated, the Tucher Bajuvator Doppelbock is less obtrusive than its darker compatriot, Ayinger Celebrator -- this mildness may be its advantage, however, as it doesn't quite drink "like a meal"

500 ml bottle, July 2015, BB date 25.08.2013, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.5%. Dark reddish brown colour, moderate off-white to beige head. Strong sweetish aroma of malts, caramel and dark bread with dark syrup. Medium sweet and malty flavour (but not quite as sweet as the aroma made me fear), caramel and brown bread. Very moderate hops, as expected. A slight fruitiness (hints of prunes) in the finish helps the drinkability. Nice enough now, but I might well buy another bottle and sample it fresher.

From the bottle, it pours a clear mahogany color with a nice light tan head that reduces to a thin layer. In the nose, it is caramel and roasted malts. The mouth gets the same, with a sweet malty flavor overall.

The one I got in Germany had 7.5% alcohol listed on the label

Mahogany colour body, tan head 1.5 finger head. Smell of toast, coffee, dark fruits.

Taste is a complex mix of figs, prunes, coffee, brown sugar and dark chocolate. The feel soft and quite dry with a lingering alcohol sweetness.

This is my favourite doppelbock. It has the right balance of alcohol, maltiness and sweetness and fruity and coffee notes. It's better than any from the big six Munich breweries in my honest opinion.

16oz pour on tap at Midlands Beer garden in DC -- Reviewed from notes

Look: A deep reddish brown mahogany, slight lightening around the edges. A tan head of tight, creamy bubbles leaves a tiny bit of spotty lacing behind.
Smell: Toasty toffee and Caramel malts, light chocolate/mocha and spice notes.
Taste: Follows the nose but much richer and creamier. Toffee and caramel, brown sugar/dates, and chocolate and coffee notes all come through much stronger.
Feel: Soft, creamy mouthfeel with tight bubbles and fairly low carbonation. Kind of a dry (Or at least, not overly/lingeringly sweet) finish
Overall: Delicious! Sweet, toasty, creamy, spicy and just dry enough to keep the sweetness from lingering. An absolute pleasure to drink.

L- Deep chestnut-red, clear, pours with 1Cm super-fine bubble tan head. Holds very well.
S- Rich toasty malts and grains.
T- Roasty-toasty, deep roasted grains with some hints of coffee. The finish is briefly rich together with an alcohol tang to remind you that it's 7.5% ABV.
F- It's a bit richer than I'd usually go for, but it'd still work fine for me in winter. The roasted notes and 7.5% tang go a good way to counteract any risk of 'net sweetness'.
O- Roasty-toasty, deep flavours + an alcohol tang in a beer that has a touch more sweetness and a touch less bitter hopping. This will work well for some people - on which note I was confident my wife would love this.I handed it to her (in the shower!) and in summary she said: 'Not too hoppy/dry, nice caramel, not too coffee - yes I really like it'.
500ml bottle. Bought from BeersOfEurope. BB: 28/08/2020, Batch L246

ps. The lable on my bottle is completely unchanged except in one respect; the ABV%. As above^ mine is labelled as 7.5%, whereas the Description in the listing headers is for 7.2%.

Pours a reddish, deep, dark mahogany coloration with a large, creamy head. Smells of bready, caramel malt with notes of dark fruit: fig, plum raisin, toffee and light earthy/herbal hoppy notes. Taste follows the nose, being dominated by dark, slightly grainy, bready, caramel malt, reminiscent of pumpernickel bread, and strong notes of toffee and dark fruits: fig, plum, raisins, with lighter notes of coffee, molasses and licorice. There's also a distinct earthy/herbal hop note to this that really helps balance out the sweet malt notes. Finishes with a medium bitterness and caramel coated dried fruit lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

This has a good complexity and exceptional balance of sweet malts and earthy/herbal hops to it that makes it quite enjoyable. A rather nice mouthfeel and well-hidden ABV further are also rather positive aspects of this. Definietly one of the better Doppelbocks I've had.
