Stopped in to check this place out on my way to purchase a growler from Fitger's. Small little shop which is stocked more for wine than anything. The beer selection is pretty small, but they had a couple of solid choices. There were some Unibroue, Bell's, Superior and a couple of other foreign brews. Nothing crazy or spectacular, but in a pinch could pick up something good. Pricing was pretty normal. The young lady working was friendly but didn't offer any help. I didn't ask for any, but was not offered any so not sure what her knowledge level was. She was friendly though. An okay place with an okay selection.

Stopped in here while killing some time in Duluth. A pretty good selection for where it is in the state, they don't bother with anything that is likely to be found elsewhere. This was definitely a wine and alcohol shop though. The service was good. I stopped in twice, the first time I said I had no interest in buying anything, the clerk said ok and didn't bother me. Next time, I said i was looking for a good RIS, he directed me to Old Rasputin and a few others. If I was short on time, and going to be near here, I might stop. Otherwise, I would just go to Warehouse.

Stopped in to check the place out when rolling through to the Brewhouse. Having seen the place many times before, I decided it would be prudent to stop in.
As this is a wine store first, beer store second, the wine selections encompass the majority of this small store. The stock appeared decent for the size, though I didn't dwell much on it.
The beer is found on one side of the store, to the left when you enter. The majority of the beer is in the coolers that line the wall. For the amount of space dedicated to beer, the selections were pretty much all of a decent to exceptional quality.
The man working was talkative and friendly when I approached him. He seemed to be a beer guy himself, having commented about keeping one case of his Hop Slam allocation for himself.
Overall, this is a pretty small place with a pretty small beer selection. However, they don't waste space on crappy beer, and much of it is of the best quality. If you need to pick something up and you're on Superior, or staying in the hotel or wherever close by, this is a sure bet to get something tasty.

This place is located in the Fitger's complex, not far from the door to the Brewhouse and above the Brewhouse store. It is a very small store and has a small selection of beer. But what they have is good and better than you can find as you travel further north in Minnesota. I point this out because Fitger's is a great place to stop for lunch as you drive up to the BWCA. Fitger's Wine Cellars serves as a convenient place to pick up some good beer before heading north. Nice selection of local brew and an occasional rare find, like Thomas Hardy's Ale. The service is not an issue, because it is so small which downgrades the selection value, too. However, it's convenient location makes it worth popping in.

This place is right across the hall from the brewpub in the Fitgars complex, so ofcourse it was quite fancy and historical looking. The gentleman working there was nice, didn't say much, but then I didn't ask. This was much more of a wine store then anything, but there is a wall of coolers full of microbrews. They were all of really good quality, but the selection was a bit limited by space. I picked up one of the same things as the only other reviewer of this place coincidentaly, a Rouge 2IPA in a ceramic bottle (hop heads think alike?) but I also threw down for a 4 pack of Old Rasputin. This place is perfect for stoping through after enjoying beers in one, if not the, best brewhouse in Minnesota

This store is located in the Fitgers Brewery complex and is now in a new location right at the front door on Superior Street. From the front of this store inside the building you can see the Brew Houses brewing vats on display. When I first discovered this place, I asked the guy behind the counter how long they had been open. He said about twelve years. What? Apparently they had been in the building but in some far less convenient location.
The store looks very lovely with nothing but hard wood adorning the shop with wine racks literally from floor to ceiling. It is primarily a wine shop, but I popped my head in to have a look around none the less. To my surprise, to the left to the store stood five or so coolers brim full of six packs, and dig this, with out a macro to be found! Well, not exactly. The bottom half of the farthest cooler was devoted to corporate America. Seeing this craft dominance, I dutifully thanked the proprietor for his tasteful beer selection. The man I spoke to was obviously much more of a wine, guy, but he knew enough about beer to appreciate the selection at hand. I picked up a ceramic bottle of Rogue 2IPA for my brother and a bottle of mead from a new Minnesota mead brewer outside of Cloquet called Minnestalgia. Its technically a honey wine producer, so Im not to sure if it will be entered on BA, but its meads arent too bad.
Some of the beers sighted were as follows; Chimay, Duvel, Rogue, Lake Superior Brewing Company, South Shore Brewing, Schells, North Coast Brewing, Sam Smith, Lion, Anchor, Bells, Sierra Nevada, Summit, Flying Dog, a few Germans, and Leinnies. Not too shabby.
This is really an attractive place with a respectable selection of beer. With its proximity to the Brew Pub, a stop in is almost mandatory.
