This place is not a beer destination in itself but is a fine place to get some quality beer. Due to the limited quantity of craft beer in Morganton this is probably the second best place to go. This is also the best place to get sampler packs. I saw: Red Hook, the entire Highland line-up, many Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams, many Mendecino, and the Sweetwater beers. They also have a good selection of foreign beers. Service is what you expect from a grocery store and prices are reasonable. This place will not have that special beer your looking for, but if you are looking for beers to session with a few good friends at a reasonable price then this is the place to go.

I have bought more main stream beers (Sierra Nevada, Etc..) here in the past, but I thought I would review it because the store has changed quite a bit.
The store has recently expanded and that includes (to my overwhelming glee) the beer selection. When I was last in, they had what I would say at least 30-40 differrent beers (maybe more, I didn't count), and they had a build your own six pack section. I also saw offerrings from many brewers in big bottles, including Duvel and Three Philosophers.
Service is what you would expect from a grocery store, and I wouldn't expect to get any information from the employees about the beer.
Overall, I would say this bumps Ingles up on the scale a little bit, and while it might not be that golden beer stop, it's a great place to get your groceries and maybe pick up some good beer too.
I wanted to update my review because Ingles has changed their selection quite a bit. I would assume they have, or are trying to reach an equilibrium since they probably have a better idea now of where their sales are. Unfortunately they cut their craft selection pretty much in half. They still have a lot of the Ommegang beers, Grand Cru, and a few others in bombers, but six packs are lacking. They greatly expanded their Mexican and Euro macro lager selection, in some cases having up to 4 rows for each case. Still pretty good for a grocery store. I would give it a C now.

This store carries a fair selection of beers considering it's in a small town in Western NC. As you walk in, the beer is in a cooler to the far left. I noticed they carry standard micros such as Sam Adams and SNPA. They also had beers from Mendocino, Sweetwater(GA), Highland from Asheville, Harpoon, Stella, Hoegaarden, Guinness and a quite a few more. Nothing stood out as a "gem", but hey, this is a grocery store. Basically, if you're in Morganton and want to buy some craft beer that stands out(like 90 minute or Brooklyn Monster) head across town to the Tobacco Barn instead.

This place is great considering it's in Morganton. They don't have and bombers or 750's but they do have quite a few sixers and mix packs. I have saw Sweetwater, Highland, Flying Dog as well as many others. I would say that about half there beers are micro's. Every time I have been there has been something new. I would reccomend this place to local BA's to pick up sample packs. Managment of this place is to be commended for putting forth the effort to get in quality beers. In Morganton not many places go out of the way for micro fans but this place has. Not a destination but if you're in town, stop in and check it out.
