had this last time i was at the brewpub in september. the bartender said the brewer has been trying out a new yeast and made a dubbel and tripel (which i did not try) with them.
8oz pour served in a tulip.
a - came to the table a murky carmel color with a thin ring of foam. beer leaves thin leggy lacing on the sides of the glass.
s - smells of pear and candi sugar.
t - candi sugar and a little spice over a carmel malt base. lighter fruity notes like grape and pear with a mild hop bitterness in the finish. i like that the belgian yeast doesn't dominate flavor the way it does in many other examples of the style.
m - medium in body, lighter carbonation, faint alcohol warming. could stand a little more co2 actually.
o - pretty nice on a cool fall evening, but there are much better examples of the style out there. good for something different though and good enough that i ordered a second.
Serving type: on-tap
