The appearance was a mostly dark brown color with a thick finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a good pace. Slight lace. The aroma blended some dark and milk chocolate smoothly into a light lager breadiness. Ever so slightly grassy hops at the end. The flavor leads with a sweet lager smoothness and ends up with just a touch of roast as it warms. Aftertaste wraps together the lager yeasty/breadiness on in with a malty finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt as projected by the brewer. Overall, nicely done doppelbock as I would have this again if I could get it.

Reviewed on 6/30/2010. On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear red/amber with a small white head. Aroma of sweet fruits (almost juice-like with all the sweetness) and sweet malt. Flavor of sweet malt and still fruity. The texture isn't juice like but the taste was. Ok overall.

Had this one on tap at a bar just down the street from the brewery, smell of biscuity malts, color a classic amber, tastes of german malts little to no hop presence, abv quite high for the drinkability, and as such it makes a good session beer, if you don't mind partying a little hard. Overall an average sample, but one I'd order again.
