Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Cary, NC. This beer is a pale clear yellow with a very small white head. The aroma is skunk with some wheat, I am not looking forward to the first taste. Yep, the flavor is heavy on the skunk side with some grass that follows. Not a good beer at all, Marathon is a much better beer from Greece. This may taste better in Greece.

I've had this twice. Once in Boston - blech. Once in Santorini after a long walk down on the donkey path - so refreshing. I will choose the positive review. A typical lager from Europe. Golden color, very strawy and mild hoppy taste - nothing remarkable but refreshing. I had 2 large steins and a beer had never tasted so good as it was very hot out. Beer snobs will rip this apart, I think some beers are meant for their own turf, and this is one. Looking forward to another

Pours a straw color with decent head and lace . Grassy aroma and slightly herbal. Similar grassy flavor in the taste, toasted malts and light hops. Very crisp and light bodied; easy drinking.
I don't feel this one is as bad as others make it out to be. It's drinkable and a nice light and refreshing option. Also, if this is an american adjunct, it tastes like all grain to me. Certainly much better than other american adjuncts.

Alfa on tap on Athens.
Look: Golden fizzy body with a white head that had poor retention.
Malt forward aroma and balanced flavor. Light hoppy aftertaste.

50cl green glass (ugh) bottle with branded pry-off pressure cap acquired at a local Thessaloniki corner mart and served into a plastic cup in my hostel. Reviewed live. Expectations are low.

Served after removal from the fridge. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

No bubble show forms as it's poured.

HEAD: Pours a one finger wide head of white colour. Fairly thin - disappointingly so. No lacing clings to the sides of the glass as the head recedes. Has a mediocre complexion and consistency. Head retention is average (~2 minutes). Not real creamy or frothy.

BODY: Clear copper of average vibrance. No yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.

Appears well-carbonated. Looks pretty standard for a macrolager.

AROMA: A generic aroma of basic barley, maybe some corn/maize adjunct, and malty sweetness. Evokes a low-quality brew made from cheap ingredients. Possesses no notable hop character or yeasty notes. Luckily, there aren't any detectable egregious off-notes.

I'm not looking forward to trying it.

TASTE/TEXTURE: It's like any other macrolager. Has a very generic build. Barley, malty sweetness, and helles malts. That's it. Very simple - even for the style. I also pick up on some off-putting adjunct.

Unbalanced. It's okay I guess, but there's just nothing notable here at all. Even a bit of hop character would be nice. About as boring and bland as they get.

Smooth, wet, and overcarbonated. Unrefreshing. Some brisk crispness would be nice. This texture doesn't feel particularly well suited to the taste. Meh.

OVERALL: Middling execution and a bland flavour profile make this a brew that can definitely be missed. Nothing to taste here, lads. Move along...

.5 L bottle into a pint glass. Kaliviani, Crete, Greece.

A- Very light gold. Whitish head retains poorly.

S- Straw aroma, with a slight citrus hint.

T- Sweet grainy and bitter earthy dry hop.

M- Clean and easy drinking. Light body. Nice crisp finish.

O- Maybe the best mass produced Greek beer so far.

Appearance: crystal gold body with maybe a one finger white head that disappeared before my eyes; a spot or dot of lacing here or there.

Aroma: oh hum, another lager bouquet; in the bottle a little Euro must smell or green bottle smell; in the glass – sweet grains and grassy hop

Flavors: grainy, light herbal hop and dry grass, multi grain bread, for a Lager pretty good

Mouthfeel: crisp, refreshing, light flavors, light to moderate body, moderate carbonation,

To the Point: once again a typical Lager; average at best as far as Lagers go; refreshing and pleasing on a hot summer day. Hard to justify the $12.99 a six pack. The price is in play for the okay rating.

Another one in Greece.
A-Got it on tap,so it is very good looking beer in the glass. Pale color, with just enough bubbless in it. One finger white foam, staying all the way.
S-Usual,but weak smell for pale lagers.
T/M-Drinkable,low bitterness and carbonation.
O-I like it,nothing special, but i would like to drink it again.

A - pours with a small head of white foam that settles quickly and leaves decent lace.  The body is clear with a deep golden color,

S - a bready malt aroma with some light, herbal hops.

T - Grainy malt up front with some herbal hops.  A touch of corn in the middle with a dry finish and lingering, moderate bitterness.

M - Medium body, moderate carbonation, and a dry finish.

D - Not bad, it has a promising aroma,  but the flavor is a very average e.uro lager.

A: The beer is clear dark yellow in color (resembling apple juice) and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a thin off white head that died down but never completely faded away.
S: There are moderately strong aromas of corn and apple juice in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste is sweet with hints of bitterness. There are flavors of corn and notes of apple juice.
M: It feels light-bodied and a bit watery on the palate with a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The sweetness and apple juice flavors can make this a bit difficult to drink for some people. Nevertheless, it has a good amount of aroma and flavors compared to other adjunct lagers.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium golden yellow (apple juice) in color with some very light amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a quarter finger tall bright white head that quickly reduces to a thick ring at the edges of the glass and a medium sized patch of thick large bubbles. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: This beer has a very sweet smell - grain/corn adjunct malts along with quite a bit of apple juice.

T: Like the smell, the taste of this beer is quite sweet - there is a strong presence of grainy/corn adjunct malts and apple juice. There is a very light amount of grassy hop flavors. Very little bitterness.

M: On the lighter side of medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation.

O: This beer is pretty easy to drink, though perhaps a little sweet to be sessionable. Enjoyable but not one I will likely seek out again.

Beer served in a snifter. Beer is yellow and clear with no head no lacing moderate carbonation.

Aroma is vegetal and sweet. Not a horrible aroma but also not appealing.

Beer is light in body and sweet with a musky dry finish. Tastes like boiled vegetables a little. Not a good beer. If you are Greek and like shitty beer go crazy.

I had really wished that at a nice Greek restaurant, they'd have a more diverse selection of native beer, but hey.

A - It took a hard pour to yield a finger's worth of head, but it was gone in a blink. Pale as straw. A little bit of patchy lacing saves it from being totally fugly.

S - There's... no smell to even remark on. Nothing.

T - Typical lager flavor. Nothing special, and certainly not the worst I've had. Still better than Bud haha.

M - The carbonation is very excited for a beer with no head... almost prickly.

O - While I probably won't ever try this beer again, it was worth the junior college try. Not bad, but unremarkable.

Roaming the streets of downtown Athens will surely deveop a thirst. The locally brewed Alpha is sure to be a welcomed beverage that quenches the thirst while giving the ole dogs a rest.

Alpha is a crisp and cleanly flavored European lager that foregoes the abuse of adjuncts, yet promotes the fresh flavor of lightly kilned malts for a bready, grainy-sweet taste and crisp refreshing mouthfeel. Light acidity of apple and sulfur promotes the clean taste without distraction. Herbal hops have a mild spicy bitterness and light grassy taste to complement the grainy-sweet body. This fresh, tap version seems on par with Heineken when it's also fresh and off the draught.

This is the 2nd Greek beer I've run into, and if its anything like the last, it should turn out to be a half decent lager. I don't have high hopes for this one, but I might be pleasantly surprised.

The beer pours a nice light amber colour. It's darker than I expected. The head is minimal, and it looks a lot like any other lager, though slightly better due to the colour in my eyes.

The aroma is slightly sweet and mildly grainy, with a tiny hint of grassy hops mixing with a slight skunky-ess.

The flavour is sweet and malty up front and this fades into a crisp and kind of dry finish. There is a hint of hops, but it's gone before it really registers.

Overall, this is an okay beer. I might get it for the novelty at a Greek place, but it's nothing special as an everyday beer.

Golden brown. Nose grain slightly faded with a touch of yeast. The palate is dry with little flavor except a little bit of sugar in the body of distilled beer. Not really finish if not a little hot under bitter exciting. Euro lager unconvincing. Not really finish if not a little hot under bitter exciting. Euro lager unconvincing.

Pours a clear gold color with a cloudy 2 finger white head that faded slowly, leaving very light lacing; decent looking beer.

Smells of sweet malt, corn, light floral hops, caramel, grass, hay, husky grains and herbs; very faint nose, typical for a Euro lager.

Tastes like it smells, with sweet malt, corn, floral hops, caramel, grass, hay, grains and light herbs. Mouthfeel is light and very crisp, with low carbonation and a watery feel, and a light body.

High drinkability, this went down easy and is a decent beer and average for this style. This is a typical lager with a Greek twist on it; enjoy it with a gyro!

Decent appearance in the Scotch ale glass. Enough white head but not overly carbonated. Not such a bad hoppy aroma, of the faintly skunky sort. Makes me think of Mickey's Malt Liquor for some reason. Tastes better at first couple of gulps, but it's surprisingly favorful. Gets dull after half a bottle.

Still, a touch of malt, a pleasant beery taste with a touch of bitterness, and it's quite acceptable for the style. This one suddenly showed up in the smallest liquor store in my east Denver neighborhood.

A: Bright, clear straw color. Poured a 2 finger cloud-colored head that dissipated to a skim. Decanted continually. Laced in thin rings.

S: Sweet, biscuity malt. Grassy and lightly herbal.

T: Just like the nose. Crisp, fairly clean but definite adjunct flavor on the roof of the mouth. Mild bitter.

M: Light body. Ample carbonation. Crisp and refreshing.

O: Pretty average, but most are. Nothing really wrong with the beer.

Straight macro looks and corny sweet nose with only slight grass but buttery malt backbone and some definite noble bite. Crisp, round with some surprising body.

A step up from your average macro, this is a perfectly passable all-malt lawnmower beer in a can.

Poured a medium straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and sticky lacing.

The smell featured a grainy malt with some corn sweetness and the typical euro skunk.

The taste consisted of a suprisingly robust toasted grain, adjunct and balancing hop.

The mouthfeel was toward the fuller side of the style.

Overall a better than average euro lager.

Corn silk yellow beneath almost three fingers of ivory colored foam that looks better than the heads on most beer of this ilk. Persistence is fine and lace deposition is commendable as well.

Thanks to the green glass bottle, skunk was appreciated on crown cracking, during the pour, and now that nose is perched over glass. It's no worse than Heineken, however. Pale grainy, grassy hops... you know the drill.

Alfa is a Euro pale lager, end of story. It really doesn't do anything different than the vast majority of such offerings around the world. Maybe a little more background sweetness, but that's about it.

The flavor is as simple as the nose: pale grains and grassy hops that are most likely Saaz. Actually, this stuff might be even more simple than the style average, and that's saying something. Only a lack of nastiness keeps the taste score from falling another notch.

The mouthfeel is yet another lowlight. I've had light beers that weren't this thin and watery. The carbonation is big and soda-like rather than fine and well-incorporated.

For whatever reason, Alfa Hellenic Beer is not as good as Athena, which is probably Athenian Brewery's flagship offering. This ship is pretty close to sinking like a stone, because it's barely 'C' worthy.

11.2oz green bottle purchased and consumed at a Greek restaurant in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, for $3.75. This is only my second Greek beer.

Poured a straw color, with a decent sized white head. Modest amount of lace.

Mild, floral hops and biscuity malts. Rather mild smelling but not bad for a no-frills lager from a country that mainly drinks wine.

Taste is similar to the smell, except that the hops are slightly more assertive, with a nice crisp zap to the palate at the swallow.

Light bodied, with a crisp, clean mouthfeel. I've had supposedly authentic pilseners that didn't have this good a mouthfeel.

If this were cheaper, I'd consider it for a summer lawnmower beer. Good, not great, something to look for on Greek restaurant menus that don't offer anything else besides B/M/C.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass at the Greek place around the corner from us.

Color is quite dark for the style. Mild copper is what I would say. No real head or lacing. The nose is skunked hops and cardboard. The taste is just downright awful and I could barely stomach more than a sip, but I powered on through a few ounces. This beer is just horrendous. Wow. Light and skunky. Drinkability is quite poor, to say the least.
