A complicated beer using 4 types of Warminster Malt, complemented with the rich flavour of Goldings hops and the slightly citrus First Gold variety.

Gravity halfpint at the Bree Louise.

A: Still orange-amber body. No head at all. Gravity doesn't have to mean flat, Bree Louise! This is not the first dead cask pour I've gotten at this supposedly top-tier pub. Hmm.

S: Nondescript maltiness. Nutty, candied, slightly fruity. Average.

T: Follows the nose. A straightforwardly malty Bitter. Tasty enough, yes, but nowhere above average for the style.

M: A strong swish does produce a tiny bit of soft effervescence, but the slick light-to-medium body is pretty darn lifeless.

O: Meh. I've had some great times in the Bree Louise hanging out with local beer lovers, but the ales have never impressed me here. Stick with the Euston Tap if you're in the area.

Cheers!

A 500ml bottle with a BB date of March 2011.

Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. A hazy reddish-amber hue with strong carbonation. A foamy off-white head tops the liquid but disappears after a minute or so. Interesting aroma of sweet malt with notes of dried fruit, biscuits and yeast.

Flavour is sweet malt with light bitterness. Hints of dried fruit. Less substantial than the smell would suggest. Mouthfeel is rather thin and lacking in texture. Leaves the palate slightly dry.

An OK beer. It looks and smells great, but falls over once you taste it. Will probably pass in the future....

A - Nut brown with a light cream head. Some lacing, head lasts very well.
S - Brown sugar and caramel, with a very grainy nuttiness as the predominant odor.
T - Taste again is very bready and very richly flavored at this ABV. Hints of "lighter" fruits as well.
MF- Fairly creamy with a slight carbo bite.
DB - Very easy drinker, very nice, this is the kind of beer I have been looking for.

I've been looking for a beer that has a fair amount of flavor at a low ABV. This would make a good session beer (sorry Ding). Very nice, very tasty. Too bad I don't have more. Really, really enjoyed this especially as it is a nice change of pace.
Thanks, Dad!

Hand pulled from a cask at The George in Brecon, mid-Wales. Ruby-red color, with a small off-white head that leaves little lacing. The bouquet is malty, predominantly brown sugar and roasted coffee. Very grainy profile, much like whole-grain bread, but with sweet toffee undertones. Finishes very dry but not overly bitter. Soft and round in the mouth and rather drinkable.
