After visiting the Bier Stein for the past few years, I figured it was finally time to write a review.

The Stein is pretty damn unique in its set-up. Ten frequently rotating taps showcase the best of the local Oregon breweries along with a few awesome surprises from across the pond like some Aecht Schlenkerla, Karmelit, etc. While relatively small, it's one of the most solid tap lists I've seen. Always something unique, something I have yet to try, and always something that will please everyone at the table.

And if there's nothing on tap, then there are walls of coolers nicely organized where you can grab a beer from. And if you want to grab bottles to go, that's an option too, with to-go prices that are relatively comparable to the local markets.

Service is always top-notch. The guys know their stuff, know how to pour, and know how to handle it when it gets crazy busy (which is happening more frequently). They rinse every glass, will give samples without raising an eyebrow, and are all-around the best I've encountered.

The full-service kitchen does everything from daily soups and sandwiches to some pretty awesome nachos and hummus plate. Nothing out of this world, but for an establishment that's primarily a bottleshop/pub, the menu is solid.

After regularly visiting the Stein a few years ago and then moving away, I realized what a gem of a place it is - and a must-visit if traveling through the Wilamette Valley. (1,441 characters)

This place is the best. When I moved to Eugene they were still in the little shop on 11th. Since then, they upgraded and expanded into their current location on Willamette. You go for the beer, but then you stay for the beer and food. Service is great, especially when the ewench system is working well. Pro tip: go grab your first beer and a menu, and open a tab. Then find a seat, peruse the menu, plan your next beer and place your order on your phone.

If you stand in front of the 1200 or so bottles they have for a minute or longer somebody is bound to ask you if you need any help. Super knowledgeable staff.

Throw in the pool table and big screen projector and you have yourself the perfect beer bar. (711 characters)

Man, this place was awesome. Folks in Eugene are so lucky to have this place. They have just about every Oregon beer you could want, then some. I was the first person in there, got helped by 3 different people. Had 2 more say hey as they walked by. Everyone was extremely helpful and nice. I got 6 high quality Oregon beers for $16, not bad at all. They check their ages on the IPAs too, so you don't have to. Go there if you're w/n an hour or so drive. Totally worth it. (471 characters)
