"A strong dark Belgian ale blended with a sour stout. Alcohol comes in hot w/a dark sour finish" Pilot batch 68 BTW
Enjoyed at the brewery and now a few hours later from a growler.
Pours near black, under a dark mocha head, that stays well, then goes to a tiny bubble film and leaving moderate fine bits and strands of fine lace.
Nose of molassas, licorice, and bitter dark chocolate.
Big, brash, complex and thoroughly enjoyable brew. Lots of more of the above, bitter chocolate, molassas, dark and burnt malts. Sour note is present but on the muted side. A lot going on here and for a young and fresh beer its all going on quite well.
Would be nice if some of this was bottled and aged, cuz it seems a year or more "in the bottle" would add some mellowness and blending of all that happening with this new offering from the captain.
Serving type: growler
