375ml capped bottle into Hill Farmstead stemware. Shared with schen9303.
Pours a 1.5 finger foamy white head with good retention. Beer is a crystal clear goldenrod that reveals ample carbonation. Lacing is sparse and patchy with average stick.
Nose is tart, a touch soapy, and a bit woody with a sprinkle of cobweb funk. Aromatic, clean and pretty enticing.
Opens tart pear, citrus and lemon. Hints of oak, Brett funk, wood, and a fleshy green plum presence in the middle. Just the slightest bit of sweetness complements the aggressive, prickly tartness nicely. Finishes dry and foamy with a puckering aftertaste. Really good.
Light bodied with huge carbonation. Foamy and frothy in the mouth and goes down crisp, dry and refreshing. Dry finish with a puckering aftertaste. Really drinkable and almost exactly what I want.
This is a pretty pleasant surprise! I haven't had many good sours from the Captain in a while but this one's great now and has some nice potential for a bit of aging too!
