The only “effortless” thing about this beer is how it drinks. Domestic and imported malts take a backseat to the loads of American grown hops that are dumped into the kettle. Dry-hopped for a mouthwatering aroma with Mosaic and Palisade hops. Enjoy an Effortless drinking experience with our Session IPA.

355 ml bottle, as Captain Lawrence Effortless IPA Session Ale, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%, IBU 45. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Pleasant aroma of citrussy hops, also hints of pine. Smooth mouthfeel. Lovely and refreshing medium dry flavour, well balanced with citrussy and piney hops. A winner, especially for the summer months.

Can. Golden amber. Slight haze. Wispy head.
Smells of the labelled grapefruit and not much else.
Tastes like grapefruit soda. Some distant biscuit is apparent. Decent astringency to finish.
Light to medium body. Well carbonated.
Good for a hot day.

Pours a slightly hazy amber out of the can with a one-finger head and has and leaves moderate lacing on the glass, smells sweet and citrusy, tastes grapefruity and has a clean hoppy aftertaste, full bodied mouthfeel, and very refreshing. This is a very drinkable session IPA that works well on a nice summer day.

Pours a clear golden copper color with a wispy foam head.
Aromas of citrus fruit, mango, papaya and stone fruit. Floral and grassy notes along with a hint of bready and crackery malts.
Although hops forward, the taste opens with a firm dry cracker malt. A touch of caramel malt adds body and flavor. There is a significant yet clean hops bitterness throughout. Hops flavors evoke pine, grass and lightly tart citrus fruit.
Medium to light bodied, yet, full flavored for a session IPA. Clean, crisp and moderately carbonated. A big grassy and dry finish with a lingering bitterness.
Overall a nice session IPA with some body to it; definitely not in the “hops water” mode of other session IPAs.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a slightly cloudy light Amber color with a large white head. The aroma is sweet hops. The taste is similar to the nose with a nice hop bite.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a conical pint glass; bottled 07/28/2017.
A: Pours a hazy, dark amber color with a one half inch head, low retention, and low to moderate lacing.
S: Aromas of toast, lemon and pine predominate.
T: Tastes akin to nose, although grapefruit more evident than lemon. Maltiness evident up front with more bitterness on the back end. Slight bitter aftertaste.
M: Medium bodied with strong carbonation.
O: A very drinkable and enjoyable American IPA. Better balance that Hop Commander. Looks and tastes more like the New England IPA cluster within the style. Would not hesitate to have it again.

Willi becher pint glass.
Pours hazy amber, little white head that flattens out quickly. Smells of mild pine, mild malts and GF/citrus. Tastes of GF up front with a nice base that follows of pine and mild malts. Thin, biittered.. with a heavy dose of carbonation.. which actually fits well for a session IPA. No lingering bitterness to ruin the party.
This is my 1st beer from CL, and I'm quite pleased with the overall approach to this session. It's not overly bitter.. at least not to me.

The beer pours out into a shaker pint glass a hazy dark golden amber color with a 1" high off white head that slowly but visibly recedes to leave some lacing on the sides of the glass. Sipping creates several patches and legs of lacing and for most of the beer there are some patches of lacing on the sides of the glass.

The aromas are dominated by the hops which are pine, some citrus and a touch of resin.

The flavors are much as expected from the nose. There's really no malt sweetness here to moderate the bitterness.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly prickly with the moderate carbonation. The finish begins as the hop flavors and bitterness fade slowly into the background but I'm still not finding much if any malt here.

Overall this seems a well made expression of the Session IPA which also illustrates again for me why I usually prefer not to drink them, i.e., they are all about the hops and bitterness. I gave it a try but won't be repeating it.

12 ounce can poured into a tulip glass. Lovely label on the can too!

Look: Deep orange copper and honey, with two fingers of head on the pour.

Smell: Grapefruit of course is a strong presence, with notes of pine needles present as well

Taste: Grapefruit, and plenty of it too! Minor notes of pine needles and honey are detectable, along with a bit of closing hops bitterness. It's very tangy and refreshing, and mild, as befits a session IPA. There is a slightly too sweet aftertaste, but it's not overpowering and goes away with a sip or two of water.

Feel: The citrus, along with the carbonation, tickles the palate nicely. It's soft and smooth, the sort of beer I'd want on a hot day.

Overall: Just about everything I'd want in a session IPA. I'm already quite fond of this one, and I'll definitely pick up more. It's a light, satisfying IPA, just like it says on the can.
