12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. No bottle on date but it has the newer style logo cap.

A - Crystal clear light amber body. Lots of rising carbonation. A nice head forms and settles down to a frothy and messy one finger high off white head. Excellent lacing and retention.

S - Lots of coriander, banana and biscuity malts. Very witbier like minus the yeast characteristic. Some fruity hops, mostly in the form of citrus and light pine.

T - Much sweeter than the nose led me to believe. Coriander spice, bananas, liquid bubble gum, and english style biscuity malts with a lightly bitter and fruity hop finish. Mouth feel is medium bodied and coats the mouth. Carbonation is high.

O - Not very impressive. Seems kind of like a mess as its overtly sweet. It just leaves a really long and lasting syrupy sweetness that gets nauseating really quickly.

12oz bottle with a gold cap instead of a CL cap. Not sure if this means this is an older batch.

A: Light straw yellow with many bubbly bubbles below a white head with considerable lacing.

S: Bananas, cloves, slightly spicy.

T: Follows the nose pretty well with light banana flavors and a prominent spiciness. Pretty low hop profile for a pale ale, but that could just be because this is probably an older bottle.

M: Very carbonated with a nice long bready/banana finish (something I've noticed in all CL beers.)

O: Nice and refreshing, but I prefer their kolsch as a summer beer. Would like to try this a little fresher.

A-Clear, carbonated light orange, two finger head.

S-Lemon, clove, bananas, grass, pepper spices.

T-Spices are the main part, mainly peppery and grassy notes. Not as much of the clove, bananas from the nose. Not much in the way of bitterness.

M-Light and well carbonated.

O-If the palate could have lived up to the nose this beer would be phenomenal.

Pours a clear, pale golden color. Two fingers worth of a white head. The head falls quickly to a ring, and island that leaves a few spots of lacing.

Smells like a wet, mange riddled mutt. Coriander overpowers, and dominates its aroma.

I taste banana, coriander, clove, bubblegum, and some fruity notes.

Dry, medium body with little carbonation.

When I took my first sniff I thought I'd be drain-pouring this one. However it's flavor, and mouthfeel were pretty decent.

A - Pours a clear golden, with a little bit of effervescence.

S - The spices are definitely present!

T - Excellent. Some very nice spices which I'd describe as "subtle +". Not to strong, bit present enough where you don't have to hunt for them.

O - I have always liked this beer. The first time I had it was at the brewery itself. My first reaction was "wow, more than just a hint of banana" (and I loved it!). I've never gotten the taste of banana since then (but I was also in the hot sun, drinking other CL brews, and eating some very good BBQ. So who know's how that may have played on my palate?). However, there is a lot going on here, bit yet it is very refreshing.

A: Poured from a bottle into a goblet, appears a hazy shimmering gold color with a big white head that dissipates rather quickly and does not leave much lacing.

S: Sweet malt, with some fruitiness, some funky spiciness from the yeast and a grassy hop aroma.

T: Opens with pale malt sweetness with some subtle banana flavors and some musty pepper and clove notes from the yeast, orangey citrus flavor builds and melts into a very dry, grainy finish with a grassy hoppiness and some residual spiciness. Opens up like a belgian and finishes like a pils. Delicious.

M: Medium body with lively, creamy carbonation.

O: A delicious American take on the style. I gotta try more Captain Lawrence, the beers I've had from them have been outstanding.
