The Captain Lawrence booth at the EBF was empty for a while so it was like I was drinking my own bottle.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy orangish golden color with a layer of white head that leaves a ring around the edge of the cup.

Smell: Vinegar and some lemon tartness along with an herbal note. Smells quite crisp.

Taste: Quite sour, vinegary and a citrus tartness. Mildly sweet with a funkiness that accompanies the sour citrus taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with smooth yet aggressive carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: This is a really dry and refreshing sour. I would love to have my own bottle some day.

Clear golden body, low carbonation, low to no lacing and stickiness.

Tannins of white grapes, sweetness from them. It's fructose and citric acid bite. Light woody nature, the oak is there for sure. It's so funky egg shell and bright with acidity.

Bright grapeskin tannins, woody bite, popsicle sticks and bits of vanilla memory. The acidity is citric and lactic with no acetic. The grapes give off a white wine nature.

Smooth, light, crisp back end, wheated middle. Very creamy center. The acidity is nice bittering in the middle to back end. Puckering lightly.

Very excited to finally crack one of these babies open. Batch 5 into a Lost Abbey tulip. Golden straw color poured aggressively, yielding no head. Regardless, carbonation bubbles are rushing up from the bottom. Nose is filled with lots of funk, vinous/white grape, slight woodyness, a bit of soft floral tones, and finishes with lemon peel. The tongue follows to a generous degree, funky, lemon peel, subtle vinous (almost like a white wine), and sour green grapes. Pretty strong burst of carbonation in the beer itself, goes well with the sourness. Overall, my gosh. I think the complexity of this is great. I get so many flavors, it is hard to land them all. I have one more b5, and will surely sit on it till b6 comes around and do a side-by. Thanks CLBC!

This is the b4, courtesy of speedwayjim. It was recommended to me that I open this before trying the b5. Thanks Jim and Jonah for sending these bottles. Poured into a wide-mouth Grottenbier globe/chalice.

A - Yellow, like a mix between apple juice and chardonnay. Thick foam head quickly turns into lacing.

S - Sour apples, lemon/lime. A small amount of citrus.

T - Funky oak, lemon. A little bit of citrus comes through on the finish. As I drink more, there is almost a tart white grape flavor that takes over the citrus.

M - Light to medium body with a medium to high carbonation. Feels very good for the style and attributes to the feeling of crispness in each sip.

O - Very good. Almost everything is on point here for me. I will probably end up seeking out more.

A: Bright yellow. 3 finger foamy white head.

S: Pungent sour and citrus notes.

T: Wonderfully sour. Great lemony citrus on the nose followed by vinegary sourness.

M: Light and refreshing. Well carbonated.

O: So glad to have tried this. Up there with Beatification. I need to find more.

Big thanks again to ClockworkOrange for sharing this at a recent tasting he hosted. 750ml labeled as batch 2. Poured into a mini-snifter, this brew appears a clear light yellow color. A white fizzy cap appears and quickly dissolves. A swirl hardly does anything but does produces a couple spots of lace on the glass.

The smell is lemony and lactic mixed with vinous notes that are juicy smelling. A bit of yogurt hits the nose along with some funk and mild oak. Towards the back are more mellow notes of wild character and funk but overall this is an enjoyable smelling brew.

The taste includes mild white grape juice that reminds me of almost Chardonnay. A dry quality of oak and lactic yogurt contrasts the vinous qualities. As it warms up, more funk and less tart flavor hits the palate as the mouth becomes accustomed. The funk gets mildly grassy into the finish.

This is a light bodied brew with a low level of carbonation visually yet it contained some liveliness about it in the feel. This is a light and easy drinking brew. Nice sharp and tangy elements not to mention I am a sucker for brews that have vinous elements. Well done.

Pours a hazy gold with no head, looks very simalar to wine. Aroma of funk and sour grapes, tastes a lot like wine with great sour notes. Smooth yet dry, very tasty, sour but not over the top, its just right I wish this wasn't limited because I would drink it all the time!!!
