On tap at the Blind Tiger, in NYC (god I love being able to type that again..) Typical witte presentation, cloudy, yellowy, with a white tight knit head, showing better then average retention and a nice amount of lacing. The expected lemony, citrus nose with a hint of yeastyness. Crisp and refreshing offering, more lemon, wheat malt in the back ground. Yummy new offering from the good Captain.

Appearance: 1 inch head, clear, gold in color, high carbonation,
Smell: orange, lemon, lots of fresh citrus
Taste: orange, lemon, lots of fresh citrus--slight earthy hops
Mouthfeel: sweet with light bitterness, light bodied with high carbonation
Overall: Very juicy and citrusy beer that is balanced well. One of the better offerings I have had from Captain Lawrence's small bottles. Wish I found a full six of this.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Assuming the bottle isnt supposed to say "witte" anywhere on it?
A: Pours a cloudy pale golden with a somewhat thick one finger head. The head is white and sticks around for a bit leaving some lacing on the glass. Lots of visible carbonation as tiny bubbles.
S: Certainly hops, this has a nice fresh aroma to it. A blend of floral and citrus with a touch of pine. Seems to dominate the wheat, which I dont mind.
T: The wheat does come through more on the taste but is still a bit overshadowed with the ample hop dosage this brew has. Aftertaste is a mix of citrus and pale malts. On the hoppier end for not being labeled an IPA.
M: A pretty crisp and refreshing beer. Ample carbonation and a mostly clean finish. I guess the hops provide a bit of stickiness but its quite acceptable for the amount of hop flavor.
Overall Captain Lawrence strikes again. I have been impressed with their selection and would recommend to anyone into American Pale Wheat Ales.

On tap at The Ginger Man. Wheat aroma. Pale yellow cidery colour with some lace. Nicely drinkable, a bit astringent citrus, even some hop but also well malted finish.Subtle spice: corriander. Refreshing summer beer. Mineral water carbonation, average or above mouthfeel.

On-tap at the brewery
Immediately reminds me of Victory's Whirlwind Wit for the juicy flavors and light body. This beer, however, comes off a bit more satisfying thanks to the shot of citrus in the taste. There's a lot that's traditional about this beer in the easy mouthfeel and coriander flavor, but a little kick of American hops gives this beer a nice twist. Still pretty Belgian, but not quite. Worth a try if you're into wit's.

A- light golden yellow, little bit of haze but otherwise pretty transparent. Less than one finger of white head
S- bready malts, piney hops, citrus fruits.
T- bready malts upfront followed by some grapefruit citrus notes, leading into a slight piney hop presence. Finishes bready with a slight bitterness from the hops. Subtle spices in their as well.
M- light, slightly carbonated. Doughy
O- overall this was a very nice beer from capt larry. It is there new summer seasonal and I got it in NY before it was available in CT. Very well balanced wit. The bready notes really take over but the slight hop flavors really balance it out well.

Pours a hazy golden color with a whitish glaze and some honey highlights. The white head is short and dense and settles into a light cap.
The aroma is light and sweet. A bit grainy, noticable wheat aroma. Slight lemon touch and perhaps some hay.
The taste is light with a crisp wheat malt base. A light grassy hop goes along with a slight lemony flavor. More of an american wheat ale than a witbier. Not much coriander or other Belgian flavors. But perhaps a touch of coriander as it warms.
The feel is light but not watery with crisp carbonation. Lightly sweet but has a grassy bitterness. Drinks quite well.
Standard american wheat ale. Easy drinking summer brew.

Out of the growler into my Witte glass. A pale straw brew with a light head that thins to a wispy covering. Spots of lace. Barely active carbonation is visible in the glass.
Smell is grainy wheat malt and faint mustyness. Light banana notes and lemony bits with yeast esters.
Taste is great! Belgian yeast and wheat with lemon and subtle spices. Nutty notes in the finish with a kiss of hops to cleanse the palate and make a clean dry finish. More nutty notes in my nose as I swallow. A slight sourness dries the tongue and invites you back. MMM
Mouthfeel is crisp and gently effervescent. A delightful experience
Drinkability is exceptional. Crisp, refreshing, smooth, and light. I coud drink the whole growler by myself...But I wont.
A quintessential summer brew. Get this while it's around and enhance your summer days and nights.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.
Pours hazy cloudy golden with white foam. Some layers. Sharp citrus nose, orange-y. A little wheaty as well. Lighter taste, a lemon-filled wheat blend. Subtle hoppy blend. Definitely some orange in the mix. Helles like aftertaste. Smooth, simple, flavorful. Perfect spring beer.
