Screw-cap growler provided via trade by gpcollen1. Thanks for the opportunity.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/2" bright white head over the slightly cloudy light golden brew. Head is promptly down to a tight layer of foam, with lasting lace. Aroma is wheaty and tart, to style. Taste follows the nose, with the tartness complementing and not out of place, as is sometimes the case. Mouthfeel is soft and smooth, and drinkability is incredibly easy. Very approachable wit, highly recommended. (509 characters)

Twelve-ounce beer sampled on-tap at Blind Tiger on Bleecker Street in Manhattan...
Pours a clear, lucid, golden-colored hue with a small head and very minimal lacing around the serving glass and ample carbonation...
Aroma was wheat-filled, dominated by citrus and yeast...
Taste was what you would expect from a good-quality Witbier... crisp, clean, refreshing, with hints of ripe fruit, lemons, citrus, wheat, and coriander...
Slick mouthfeel with a good level of drinkability... Not sure what the ABV on this one was, but it definitely wasn't too high...
Good stuff and a great depiction of the style...
Worth a try... (620 characters)

Sun Block Witte...on tap at Gramercy Tavern

Appearance- Pale gold with a really wispy head, not that much lace.

Smell- Orange peel and citrus appears along with some hops and malt.

Taste/Mouthfeel- refreshing and smooth, alot of fruit notes and carbonation. Aftertaste is a refreshing final note of grains and hops.

Drinkability-refreshing and smooth, in the sweltering summer of New York City this tastes great.

Overall-a solid hoppy witte, fits all the profiles perfectly and tastes great. (497 characters)

Out of the growler into my Witte glass. A pale straw brew with a light head that thins to a wispy covering. Spots of lace. Barely active carbonation is visible in the glass.

Smell is grainy wheat malt and faint mustyness. Light banana notes and lemony bits with yeast esters.

Taste is great! Belgian yeast and wheat with lemon and subtle spices. Nutty notes in the finish with a kiss of hops to cleanse the palate and make a clean dry finish. More nutty notes in my nose as I swallow. A slight sourness dries the tongue and invites you back. MMM

Mouthfeel is crisp and gently effervescent. A delightful experience

Drinkability is exceptional. Crisp, refreshing, smooth, and light. I coud drink the whole growler by myself...But I wont.

A quintessential summer brew. Get this while it's around and enhance your summer days and nights. (839 characters)

on tap in Ginger Man, NYC

A: Light golden color, mostly clear with a little haze. White head that quickly dissipates with no lacing.
S: Citrusy, lemon and orange, with some clove and light aroma of hops.
T: Nothing exceptional, typical wit flavors. Citrus (more lemon than orange) and spice, only difference from norm is that the hops are much stronger in this than expected. Medium body, crisp with active carbonation and bite from hops. While the flavors don't really make this beer standout, it is a very refreshing summertime beer and exceptionally drinkable. (564 characters)

Had this a few times last summer. Finally getting around to reviewing it. At the 2nd anniversary party.

A: Cloudy golden-yellow. Minimal amount of head but that is in line with the style.

S: You notice the hops first since they stick out for the style. The citrus/coriander are definitely here though. Slightly different take.

T: Again the hops are not so much strong as they are just not expected for the style. The citrus and lemon and spice is all there as well.

M: Light body with a good amount of carbonation.

D: Super crisp and drinkable. A find wits to be one of the most boring styles out there but this beers deviations made it halfway interesting. Funny thing is at the party everyone was reaching for this one. (726 characters)

First I need to start by saying this that of all the Capt. Lawrences I've had, this has to be my least favorite. That being said it's still not a horrible beer.

Poured a cloudy gold with a white head and a fair amount of lacing. Lemon, Citrusy nose, with a heavy clove scent.

Cloves came through extremely strong on the taste, a little too strong if you ask me. Detected a bit of corriander and the lemon was there but defintely not the main player anymore.

Medium mouthfeel with good carbonation.

I'm usually a pretty big fan of witbier's but this one really didn't light my world on fire. I'll give it another shot next time I see in hopes that it tastes better a second time around... (695 characters)

On-tap at the brewery

Immediately reminds me of Victory's Whirlwind Wit for the juicy flavors and light body. This beer, however, comes off a bit more satisfying thanks to the shot of citrus in the taste. There's a lot that's traditional about this beer in the easy mouthfeel and coriander flavor, but a little kick of American hops gives this beer a nice twist. Still pretty Belgian, but not quite. Worth a try if you're into wit's. (434 characters)

Poured a light copper hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured an upfront strong noble hop. Not much else was detectable after that - maybe a slight grainy malt.

The taste consisted of a very spicy noble hop with a mild coriander spice.

The mouthfeel was of medium fullness with a biting carbonation.

Overall an easy drinker. However, not exactly in line with the style. (441 characters)

On tap at the Blind Tiger, in NYC (god I love being able to type that again..) Typical witte presentation, cloudy, yellowy, with a white tight knit head, showing better then average retention and a nice amount of lacing. The expected lemony, citrus nose with a hint of yeastyness. Crisp and refreshing offering, more lemon, wheat malt in the back ground. Yummy new offering from the good Captain. (396 characters)
