On tap at New York Wine and Culinary Center in Canandaigua, NY.

Pours pale yellow, with a half inch head, and a little bit of lacing down the glass.

Smells like wheat, lemon, and some spicing.

For a hoppy wheat ale, this one doesn't feel all that hoppy, more just like a standard wheat beer. A bit disappointing. Tastes a bit soapy, with some citrus flavors, and a bit of wheat bitterness.

Light bodied, creamy mouthfeel, medium carbonation.

Not one of Captain Lawrence's better offerings, unfortunately.

Pours a hazy sunny yellow with a faint orange hue right in the middle of the glass. A few stray bubbles coming up lazily from the bottom. Fat off white head of soft creamy foam that fell too slow and left great lace and a chunky cap and thick ring. Lace clinging to the glass. Nose is sweet and delicious citrus, light sweet lemon and floral. Pale grain with a touch of dry sugar and soft spice. Sharp and enticing. Taste is muddled. The lemon is tart and juicy but the wheat never shows up to offset with it's tall golden dryness. Floral and a touch of hop bitter on the back palate. The bread is light and carries the beer to a a finish that is a little puckering. The dry wheat starts to show up a little as ti warmed but the enticing sweetness was left in the nose. Aftertaste is a little sour.

The nose was crisp, the drink was not. Ill defined on the palate the flavors were all mushed together. The carbonation was ample and refreshed with each turn of the glass. The grain reminded me of toasted malt and even it had a sour aftertaste. It left you feeling like there was a big difference between the nose and the palate.

Served in a weizen glass.

Appearance: Has a semi hazy body but still transparent, I've had some other "summer ales" that tend to look more like hefewiesens but this one is a little lighter (yellow). White head rose to maybe 1/4".

Smell: this is easily the weakest property of the beer, light hops and citrus but you have to sniff like 3 times just to get something out of the glass.

Taste: Has a bland lemon feel to it with a heavy hit of hops. No it's not really bitter more smooth than anything.

Mouth: Definitely medium to heavy, with bitter finish at the end...sounds contradicting to what I said above but it starts smooth then tastes like real beer.

Overall: Very good brew, picked up a 6 pack to have a little variety and happy I made the decision. Not my favorite "summer ale" but definitely a keeper. Salud.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Pours hazy cloudy golden with white foam. Some layers. Sharp citrus nose, orange-y. A little wheaty as well. Lighter taste, a lemon-filled wheat blend. Subtle hoppy blend. Definitely some orange in the mix. Helles like aftertaste. Smooth, simple, flavorful. Perfect spring beer.

12 oz. bottle.

Very cloudy, unfiltered golden lemon body. Tall, rocky, dense, eggshell white head. Nice lacing. Nose of fresh citrus over grounded wheat. Lots of lemon, grapefruit, and tart orange. Distinct tart, sourish note. Bready, grainy, soft wheat aromas underneath.

Grainy, bready flavors up front. Tart, zesty citrus notes follow quickly and blend with a light hop bitterness. Juicy citrus notes stay front and center. Acidic flourishes of tart grape skins accent. Wheaty, almost cereal-y malt fills in the background, providing a nice, neutral palate for the citrus, hops, and acidity to play above. Bitterness increases slightly into the finish. Dry and refreshing. Lingering grapefruit tartness. Moderate body with a lively, refreshing feel. A welcome addition to the beer fridge for the upcoming [hot] summer.
