Reviewed from tasting notes. Faint apple brandy niose with light grains and fruit. Pours pale, tea tinted gold with a slight haze under a rocky pale 2” white foam cap. It starts on the palate fruity and yeasty with caramel notes like a Belgian ale and then mid palate apple brandy flavors emerge and grow into the finish greeted by earthy hops. Medium full body, medium high carbonation, smooth and creamy.

Nose is of a nice sour. Taste is sweet and punchy up front, some slight barrel burn, then a woody, slightly off finish. An interesting beer for sure.

The beer is good, kind of a sweet, apple brandy finish. The ABV is hidden well. I would buy this again.

Bottom Line: Worth a try.

-aged in apple brandy barrels. Bottled 9/18/14, consumed 12/29/14 in a spiegelau ipa glass. 11% abv.

A: Hazy carrot orange, with a glass consuming display of quick-paced effervesce. Bready white head of 3/4 inch is moderately retaining with a medium sense of lace coverage.

S: Dry apple cider, brandy, sweet lemon and dry citrus touches. Hint of dry lime peel, orange and a dry tropical fruitiness.

T: Flavor was alcohol laced dry tropical fruit upfront, pineapple, starfruit, with a big mention of the apple brandy influence from the barrel aging which is a very nice touch and works very well with the other components of the beer. Sweet citrusy-tangerine fruit, wet, mango, with some orange-vodka like influence. Spicy hops, tropical fruit flavor is wet and lively and everything i expected.

M: Crisp sharp feel, nice warmth on the hold. Light bodied, spicy tropical alcohol warmth on the inner cheeks.

O: the 11% abv is less apparent in the beginning but will start to rear its head deeper into the drink, especially with some warming. The fruitiness is wet, fresh and well pronounced with a perfect balance of tropical hops and apple brandy influence that works perfectly together. Golden delicious is just that, and worthy a try. Easy A beer for me.

2014 bottle. Pour is a light golden amber with a faint haze and a small amount of white head. Nose has a lot of the apple brandy, gets a bit boozy and woody, some lemon, and a hint of pineapple. Taste follows, overly brandy barrel, fairly acidic finish, medium body and moderate carb. Brett comes in fairly strong in back, pineapple, hay.
