WOW. Shared with Cschmidt87 on one cold excitement filled Colorado evening.

From the first second air escaped, a large murky head came a rushing. With glasses ready, we captured every drop.

Very dense and cloudy in appearance with an almost chicken stock like comparison. BIG carbonation, a bit impressive for a sour of such.

The smell brought to mind the distinct elements that traditional Gueuze and Lambic would have. A touch more sweetness came out with more thought, as well as a very obvious peach presence. The aroma for sour fans will bring chills and thrills.

The first sip was one of the most dynamic sips I have ever experienced in a beer. A distinct tartness first emerged then bringing a massive mind-palate weight of richness and highly ripe peaches to front. Where the Belgium based sours allow for an almost elegant balance to come though, this beer contributes a much more luscious succulence and fantastic tartness of dynamic indulgence to be the focus. Not for the faint of heart or for the prejudice umami disbeliever.

The solid cascade of tartness meshed with the body of mashed sweet peaches truly made the end note feel like a composed cocktail of the highest order. Not an oak presence to detract, but I don't feel a great degree of oak would even take away from what was in each sip. The richness always stayed in my mind, like a warm peach scone or stone fruit compote.

What a great food beer. The thought of pairing this with some great duck fat or sea salt would just be mind blowing. The main course aside, this has been one of the most amazing sour styled beers I have had the opportunity to try. Amazingly complex, fully diverse in flavor, bold in mouth feel and completely enjoyable. All will agree who have tasted this.

Readjust your 'WANTS' if you have not....

375ml bottle poured into Captain Lawrence taster glass. Released in '09 with ~800 bottle count. Thanks Joe (ineedabeerhere) for trading me this bottle to bring it to a tasting a week later. Consumed side-by-side with '12 Fou' Foune.

A- Pours a translucent yellowish orange color, fairly vibrant but very minimal carbonation or head.

S- Peach skin, peach flesh, acetic acid, a very faint touch of acetic acetone. Fairly aromatic, barely any oxidation, and still plenty of fruit for being almost five years old.

T- Sour peaches, peach skin, peach juice, light acetic acid (not anywhere near as close as I thought there would be). A little bit one-dimensional at this point however it has held up considerably well for it's age. Still has a very nice peach presence, much more then the Fou' which was less then half it's age.

M- I was expecting an acid bomb however this was quite drinkable, fairly minimal carbonation but I didn't mind too much, finished extremely smooth without hardly any alcohol detection. For a peach sour being 5 years old the mouthfeel on this has held up incredibly well, the only thing I can default it on is the lack of carbonation.

O- I wasn't quite sure what to expect of this, I've heard reports that this has turned into an acid bomb. At this point though it probably primarily depends upon how it was cellared, and luckily this seemed to be cellared very well. There was way more peach then I was expecting and despite the carbonation being fairly lacking this was still quite drinkable. This is without a doubt still worth trading for if it's been cellared properly and one of the best peach sours I've had.

Thanks to Ineedabeerhere for the chance to try this longtime want. Pours a translucent piss yellow. Nose expresses bright citrus, a hint of lactic acid, peaches and a slight vinegar character. Taste consistent with nose with a salty tartness added to the flavor profile. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with an almost still carbonation. All I can say is that in doing this side-by-side with a 2012 Fou' Foune, the Fou' Foune tasted like dishwater in comparison. So sad that this beer is retired.

Thanks to jh1982 for sharing this at a Wolfpack tailgate, I've dranken some of the best and most rare stuff on asphalt with that guy. This beer was no different.

Pours a glowing, hazy, almost chunky orange color, perhaps its where the name comes from, it can be construed to be slightly flame-ish, ok, perhaps. Aroma is vinuous oak tartness. Peach, nice, smells fou fune-eee, but in much lesser gusto.

The peach is a little lighter in the taste, but there's a solid amount of 'flaming' sourness to it, nice. Very little sweetness, this has the peach start to fade in the mouthfeel as you adjust to it. The sourness is probably average for style. Acidic for sure. Was not lacking in carbonation at all. Hides the alcohol immensely well.

375mL bottle for my 2000th beer. Big thanks to Doodler for this big time want.

A: Fizzy clear gold. No head at all, though. Great color, pretty much still in every other aspect, like wine.

N: Super sour lactic acid. Apricots and peaches. Vinegar. Some residual sugar. Raspberry and acetone. Oak. Quite nice if not overly complex.

T: Really shines here, unlike the nose. Lots of peaches still. Apricots and lemons. A good balancing sweetness which seems to be a hallmark of American Wilds. Oak is adding a nice balance. Unlike the sharp nose, this has a pleasant sour quality to it.

M: Crisp and light on the tongue. This is exactly what I want from American Wilds. Not the heavy dense liquid I'm so often getting.

O: A shining example of the style, though I wish the nose had held up like the body. I'm still thrilled to have tried this.

Notes taken from 9/29 from the craziest bottle share that i have ever been a part of. Thanks so much to the NYC and hoboken crew for letting me participate in this incredible day of drinking long time wants and insanity.

Thanks kindly to Mark99 for sharing. Have had this once before (thanks to suitcase jon for that one, but looks like i haven't gotten to that part of the notes yet).

a - poured a murky yellow.
s - smells of stinky sour rotten eggs.
t - taste is phenomenal sour eggs with a burst of fruit.
m - mouth is smooth and after a swallow i'm left with a pucker.
o - overall dynamite beer. holding up great. really just phenomenal.
