Had this on tap tonight at Ginger Man in NYC. Served in a 16 oz. pint glass.

a - Pours an orangish red color with one finger of fluffy off white head and moderate carbonation evident. Looks pretty nice.

s - Smells of cinnamon, pumpkin, spices, bready malts, wheat, toasted malts, graham crackers, and gingerbread. Very nice nose.

t - Tastes of cinnamon, spices, pumpkin, pepper, graham crackers, toasted malts, grains, and bready malts. Taste is lightly more spiced than the nose.

m - Medium body and low to moderate carbonation, the body is super smooth and creamy; very nice mouthfeel and easy to drink.

o - Overall a very solid and very easy to drink beer. Loads of cinnamon and spice, would like to have it again sometime.

A very nice head that rises up to an impressive height and leaves good lacing. Khaki in color, it has good retention and gently fades to a ring. Smell is very fall harvest. Caramel malt and earthy hops, lots of pumpkin and spice. A light note of butterscotch. Taste is great with a big slice of pie in the front followed by a crisp mineral edge and more earthy hops. Caramel and cocoa. Some peppery alcohol and faint vanilla. Finish is crisp, clean, and dry with a graham and mineral flavor lingering. Feel is superb. Very crisp and quenching. This is a great fall session ale in spit of the abv as it goes down like nobody's business. Wonderful drinkability. Rather British in flavor. A great overall fall brew. I had this with homemade pumpkin ravioli, cabbage and bratwurst. My wife and I could not stop. A great pick for the Thanksgiving table. Make this one a fall regular please Scott!

On draft at The Lark, East Northport, NY.

Poured a murky dark amber hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a light vegetable rindiness and some chocolate malt.

The taste featured the same rindy effect with a pleasant toasted malt and soft cocoa.

The mouthfeel was of average fullness with a dry finish.

Overall a very tasty seasonal ale. Very unique and a hybrid of sorts.

Captain Lawrence Katchkie Harvest Ale

A Collaboration between Captain Lawrence Brewery, Executive Chef Robb Garceau of Great Performances and Katchkie Farm. It is Captain Lawrence Brewery’s first Farm-to-Table beer offering. Brewed with organic Winter Luxury Pumpkin and Kobacha squash from Katchkie Farms in Columbia County, New York.
(Above info from Rate beer and Beer menus sites)

Growler filled at Yorktown Beverage, Yorktown, NY.

Pours darker brown, lightly hazed, under a darker oatmeal head, that lasts a bit then goes to a fine bubble film and leaves ample webs and then spots of lacing on the glass.

Muted earthy nose, with a glimmer of ripe mellow pumpkin, and spicing.

Pleasant brew, tastes like a fall themed brown ale, with sweet caramel malt notes, some pumpkin undertones, brown sugar, with very mild holiday spicing.

Not one of the “Pilot batch” series. I was told they brewed a larger amount of this one. Surely worth a try if you see it in your beer world this fall
