Pilot batch 17
From the info sheet at the tasting room: "A classic and easy (drinking?) brown ale with our Belgian yeast pitched in. Lighter mouth feel than our "Brown Bird" brown ale, this is a nice introduction to the darker side of Belgian style beer"

Growler filled at the mother ship yesterday. Pours medium brown, murky, under a long lasting and looser tan head, that leaves a thicker film, and copious tiny bubble sheeting.

This one has a softly earthy and mildly malt based nose. Also a hint of chalk picked up.

Quite dry brown ale, with subtle maltyness, and equally subtle fruitiness. Herbaceous hoppy finish. Nicely crafted and quite enjoyable Brown ale.

Yet another quality experimental creation from the CL brewing crew pilot batch ongoing extravaganza.

Growler picked up yesterday from the brewery.

A: Pours a slightly hazy belgian haze with a chestnut color, little to no lacing and some head that quickly fades after pouring.

S: Aroma of belgian yeast, a slight cidery aroma and some floral hop presence.

T: Mostly belgian yeast in flavor. A brown ale body with a dry finish and a floral hop aroma. The cider like aroma is definitely here as well. I thought it was pretty good at the brewery , after drinking a growler of it, my impression may have gone down slightly.

M: Light body with a high level of carbonation.

O: This is the first PIlot series that I have had from Captain Lawrence and it was pretty good. It is highly drinkable and I would drink it again.
