On tap at the brewery...

A. Pours a very dark tobacco brown. Awfully dark for a quad. Head is minimal, but what there is is light brown and sticky.

S. Cocoa, chocolate, roasted coffee, hints of ripe stone fruit, some marshmallow. Really nice on the nose. Well rounded and complex. More coffee and chocolate forward, which, when coupled with the appearance, makes this borderline stout-like. But the nose is a pleasure. A real pleasure.

T. Follows the nose closely but with more Belgian influence typical of the quad style. Dark fruit, bread, and yeast dominate, with chocolate and coffee providing a nice counterpoint. Alcohol is frighteningly well-hidden, though it does get a bit too sweet. Still, it's quite fine.

M. Typical of the good examples of this style, it is coating without being cloying. It has a nice texture to it on the palate, with moderate-light carbonation.

O. This is excellent. Not a beer I would want a lot of, but an interesting treat. I really liked its unique cocoa and coffee notes, but felt the end result is just a bit too sweet. That said, it's a unique accomplishment and I'd have a snifter of this were I to see it again.
