MBG Winter Fest 2008.
Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate roasted coffee and sweet chocolate aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium coffee sweet dark fruit flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.
Solid drinkable beer.

Had on tap at GRBC. Nearly black pour with an off cream head. Aroma of chocolate, some lactose, slight roast malt. Nose is a bit sweet. Taste is definetely sweet, caramel, vanilla and chocolate. Some roast malt and coffee, but very little. Very nice creamy mouthfeel, but a slightly metallic finish to me. Good, but not quite near the top of the list for the style.

On-tap poured into a mug.
A- It poured with a frothy brown head that fell to a thick lace, leaving a plenty of sticky rings down the side of the glass. The body was a rich, deep brown.
S- The aroma was a lot like tiramisu. It had the scent of strong coffee mixed with plenty of cream and sugar (much like a cafe con leche or cappucino).
T- The flavor wasn't quite as bold as the aroma would suggest. Again it had a great coffee taste mixed with sweeter notes, including milk chocolate.
M- It was a little thinner than I'd expect with medium carbonation.
D- For all of the bold aroma and flavor, it's a really nice drinker. It makes for a great dessert or nightcap type beer.

As featured at the Michigan Winter Brewfest 2008, another hidden treasure of Grand Rapids Brewing. Very dark and creamy, laced up well on my plastic cup. Aroma is Creme Brule! Some coffee and other nice fitting flavosmells too. The overall chocolate tones are nice without being overbearing. Is Dessert Stout a category??
