Laughing Dog Brewing's Cream Ale is a traditional cream ale fermented with both ale and lager yeast, this gives us the creamy smoothness of an ale with a nice dry crisp finish.
We start with premium American grown 2 row pale malted barley, add a touch of German pils malt then Australian malt for color and flavor. Finally only choice Northwest grown Hops are added. After carefully fermenting for 2 weeks, we quickly chill the beer and filter.
We allow our Cream Ale to then cold age for another two weeks before kegging or bottling.

a. Poured a nutty lemon yellow with some substantial haze going on in the glass. A billowy crisp white thick cream head capped it off.
s. The aroma was bready and yeasty with some malt, rice, and oats mixed in. Fruit aromas of lemon, fresh melon, and some nice bitter hops to finish it off.
t. The taste was tough one. Malty cream and biscuts mixed with a bizarre tartness and sourness, akin to lemons and bad fruit. Offsetting and seems more like a tart, which I wasn't expecting. It was difficult to sip, and i have to wonder if my bottles were slightly off.
m. The mouthfeel in nice... it's thick and creamy but still light and crisp, with good carbonation to keep it all afloat.
d. Drinkability is definitely suffering (in my mind) as a result of the tartness. Had I been expecting it, maybe it would work out alright. Maybe I just haven't had the right cream ales? or maybe this is just an anomaly. Or i could be a wuss with a horrible palette. But I'd like to think not.
Is this really how Laughing Dog Cream tastes? Or did I get a bad batch? I'll have to try to find a different batch and try again. I'm hoping for LD's sake, that the brew doesn't normally have that astringent tartness about it. Wasatch's review mentions the tartness/tang as well, and I've heard several times that LD isn't necessarily on top of quality control. I'll have to give another batch a try and report back.

First of this style for me (from 2013). Really good. Smooth and drinkable. Malty and yeasty. Color is light amber, thin to non-existent head, Aroma and taste are malt, light gingerbread, sourdough, maple, honey. Very interesting, drinkable, smooth and refreshing. Like it!

Bronze with an off white head. Smells of funk. No wheat in this. Grass. Hay. Noble type hop character. Musty. Big carbonation. Full bodied.
Absolutely excellent.

Quite possibly the best cream ale I’ve had to date...
Very appealing coloration with a smell that indicates a sweetness and maltiness all in one. Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated with a creamy texture and the taste is a fruity and juicy surprise unlike any other of the style I have had. I have searched long for a cream ale to actually like and this is truly the first of its kind.

This is a very tasty cream ale, it drinks clean & smooth. If your a pale lager drinker & you want to transition into some craft beers then this is a good way to start. This is the perfect beer on a hot summer day, too bad there is no date on the can. Cheers! B

This was poured into a becher pint glass. The appearance was a burnt copper color with a lasting finger’s worth of white foamy head that eventually left a nice spider web clingy little lace. The aroma had some toast, sweet corn and some white bread. The flavor was malty sweet with the white bread/toast as the aftertaste with a clean sweet finish. The palate was between light and medium bodied with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt good. Overall, if I lived in Idaho, I wouldn’t mind pounding this on the hot Summer days.

Clear yellow brew with plenty of white foam in the PIlsner glass. Aroma is a peculiar under-the-sink smell. Plenty of carbonation and a light mouthfeel. Odd sourish hint along with the slight sweetness of the grainy taste. Surprisingly bitter aftertaste without a trace of hop flavor.
This is pretty awful, like a decent lager spoiled. I find the couple of Cream Ales I've liked both tasted like they were in the wrong category (Kölsch and Pale Ale). If this is the real example of the style, there's a good reason it's not too popular outside of Rochester.
Date stamped on the bottom of the 12 oz can is 05/19/16 so it's actually pretty fresh.

Pours a delicious melted butter color with a 2 finger head on top. Head retention is null but is pretty while it lasts. Opacity is 80%.
A deliciously musty smell with cream, blackberry, green apple and citrus. Light hop oils. Some faint grains, too.
Quite a bit of lemon, with pink sea salt crystals, a hop bite, and a yeasty finish with more citrus pith. While underwhelming it's actually not bad at all and quite refreshing.
Feels crisp, clean, and simple. A slight dryness is left on the finish.
I'd have this again, especially on a summer day - but it ain't bad in the winter time either.
