On-tap @ Brewfora Beer Marker, Meridian ID. Served in a pint glass.

A: Light haze, golden yellow, steady carbonation visible, light head lacing.

S: Spicy citrus, grapefruit rind, orange peel, light spicy crackery notes from the rye malt, hints of sweet grass.

T: Orange, rye, malts, light spices, low-to-medium bitterness, light grassy and herbal notes, fairly balanced, dry bready finish.

MF: Lighter side of medium, moderate body, good malt presence, decent carbonation.

O: A tasty treat, not unique but it holds the line well.

Taster at SHINE. Medium golden, clear, small thin head. Light citrus aroma. Rye takes over in the taste, funky musty nature of the grain, ending with a nice bitter bite.

old school but tasty, i ripped two frosted shaker pints of this tonight and loved every drop, especially with better than average pizza. i have not seem much of these guys on tap down here in boise, so a good find tonight. this has a pale amber color to it, an inch of sturdy and permanent just off white head lathery and dense, and it pops with carbonation. the aroma and flavor line up well, very mild spice from the rye malt because its well tempered by some richer crystal malts, which is what makes this sort of of a previous generation of craft beer, but the hops on it are aromatic and fresh, hold some fresh orange zest and pine notes in the flavor, and bring more than enough bitterness to crisp this up and balance the finish. i think the clean ferment here is better than it has been in some of their other beers in my experience, this seems super professionally executed whether you like it being malty or not, and i think there is enough hop character outside of bitterness for this to remain relevant, timeless not dated, and it drinks easy for being as grain driven and boldly flavored as it is. i rarely am a fan of the frosted glassware, but i think the coldness helps make this one a little more crushable in this instance. hit the mark tonight, fresh and flavorful and everything i still love about craft beer...

I'm unable to enjoy wheat and barley brews, so rye and rice are the ones I can enjoy. I didn't know what to expect w/ Rocketdog Rye IPA, but living near their brewery, I've had most of what they brew. Rocketdog Rye IPA was a pleasant surprise. Although I may be a little biased since I am wedged into a narrow field of brews, this one doesn't fall into any of my lower-class review categories. It will be one of my common refreshments this summer. The ratings are on a relative scale. Since rye and rice brews are not like barley, or wheat, to my palate, the ratings only pertain to rye brew comparisons.

It's very good. Thought the 22 oz. bottle was a lot for a 1st time taste, but I was wrong. Really enjoyed this one. Would not hesitate to buy this again. The ABV of 6.9 is perfect for me. Do not know the IBU, but it seeks perfect.

This was poured into a becher pint glass. The appearance was a burnt yellow/orange color, slightly glossy/golden with a nice transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a moderate pace to fill a one finger white foamy sustaining head. Subtle bubbles roam here and there inside of the head. Messy roaming lacing sticks and then slides into the beer. The aroma starts sticky sweet to lightly spiced rye. Low citric pulpiness and subtle resin helps to balance. Super subtle caramel malt comes out after a bit of warming. The flavor takes is basically the same with stoked by the rye sweetness. Semi-dry sweet to lightly spiced aftertaste with the same finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation rides light, feels good. Overall, good rye IPA that I could come back to.

Bright copper with billowing head. Good lacing.

Taste is bright. As others have noted the rye comes through as the beer warms. The result is malt breads with rye spiciness punctuated by vague sweet hops coalescing into rather light bitterness. Despite the complexity the heavy carbonation makes the beer feel quite smooth.

Overall quite good.

Pours a hazy orange with an off white tan leaning soapy head. The carbonation was crazy! Splitting a bomber between glasses when poured even at a slow rate the head just powered up like crazy.

Smell was a lot of citrus and tropical fruits, think pineapple and mangoes. As it warmed there was a bit of dankness coming off the hops and some pine.

Taste is bitter tropical fruits with some bready malts balancing the bitterness of the hops. And with an ABV of 6.9 you get no alcohol warming.

Mouth feel is clean with a crisp almost dry finish.

This was a pretty solid IPA that we picked up in a fairly inexpensive bomber. If this was offered in a six pack I would like to pick some up now and then. With lots of IPA's out there this one does a good job of representing itself.

You get one of those dullard gold colors out of it, ample clarity for a rye beer. Lace was consistent, a nice feature for a beer with hops. Comes off equal parts forest and citrus, smells like Simcoe.

Taste again drops substantial Simcoe flavors. Rye an afterthought. Stayed away from heavier crystal malt. Very little rye here I would guess. Its a good Simcoe hopped beer that is dry and relatively light. Good price on the bombers, but for a repeat purchase, I'm gonna need a 4/6 pack bro. . .
