Sneaky pete is a great name and a far superior package than the other Laughing Dog products I've had. But how does it taste?
Pours a dark red to light brown body with an off white head.
Cotton candy, caramel and citrus on the nose.
Brown sugar and caramel flavors add a solid malt base. Hops are complex and used in a restrained, even balanced way for a DIPA. Citrus, cherry, pine, and a nice spiciness. Maybe even a touch of roast. Bitterness is moderate and lingers on the palate.
Full bodied and sticky.
A very balanced DIPA with really unusual flavors. Both the hop and malt character are quite different than the standard IPA fare and I think that's the strength of Sneaky Pete. They could probably get away with calling this an American Barleywine if they wanted to, if that gives you an idea of the sort of beer it is. Malty, but still quite hoppy. $10 for the 4pk was well worth it.

Had on draft at Lures on 7/2/14 in a short wide mouth glass
A-Pours cloudy amber with a decent off white frothy head that lingers long and leaves excellent lacing.
S-Aroma is pine, grapefruit, sweet floral and citrus hoppiness.
T-Taste is heavy sweet, with grapefruit, honey, and pine with a light malt.
M-Average carbonation, medium body, slick texture and a long sticky finish with overtones of grapefruit and honey.
O-Overall a decent DIPA a great blend of hops and malt that hide the 10%.

A: deep orange/amber - darker than I would expect from a DIPA; 1 finger head that receded quickly to a thin film; nice lacing;
S: floral and tropical fruit - pineapple and grapefruit;
T: not what I expected from the nose - earthy; not a lot of bitterness, but more than what I would expect from 10% ABV; the alcohol is there, but muted;
M: on the heavy side of medium bodied; moderate carbonation;
O: enjoyable, but a little too boozy for my taste;
Serving type: on-tap
