Great atmosphere. Booth windows had view of brewing equipment. Very clean and service was excellent. We had burgers and they were very good. Beer was good but not exceptional. Sports on TVs in bar with volume loud enough to hear it but not loud enough to make conversing difficult. Overall a good time. I would go again

A: Despite the chain brewery/restaurant feel, the atmosphere is nice. The staff is very nice and friendly. Plenty of flat screen tv's in your field of vision no matter where you sit in the bar. Nice physical bar, horseshoe shaped, 2 cask taps with at least 1 always on, and usually two bartenders on duty. Fermentation, serving vessels, and mash ton visible from the bar side, which is really cool. Chain also offers a free "Mug Club" with rewards/incentives for joining.

Q: The beer and food is of the highest quality.

S: Staff is very friendly. Sometimes it gets a bit hectic, but it is easy to flag someone down to get another pint.

S: At least six or seven beers are always on tap, styles are usually a light(authentic Kolsch), wheat, double barrel ipa, red, brown, stout, and brewmaster's special(s).

F: I have had a number of items from the menu, all of which are very good. Better quality than an Applebees or TGI, maybe a few dollars more, but well worth the price.

V: Beer prices are very reasonable. Regular food prices are reasonable. Afterhours menu is nice and there is a wing special on Thursdays that is nice. This place has fantastic craft beer, due to the awesome brewmaster, Liz Laughlin. She has won many awards at both the state and national level.

Stopped by 86th St Rock Bottom last night and was quite impressed. I know it's a chain, but this particular location looked quite nice, with great lighting outside to highlight the stream out front, and nice airy and clean atmosphere inside, along with a nice peak into the brewing room.

Jamie did an excellent job waiting on me. She knew what beers were available and did a good job of keeping up with what I needed. It took her a while to bring my check, but that's my only issue and it's not a big one.

Nice beer selection, many of which are RB (or at least Indy RB) selections, but there was also a great IPA and a wonderful cask imperial stout (not the Hoosier Ma, though that was available, too).

I'd already had dinner, but I did get desert. The pint glass sundae was excellent, although I'd like more ice cream than other stuff; still, quite good.

Rock Bottom was the first "brewery" I visited once I moved to the Indy area. I give it the quotes because its defientely got the chain feel and the emphasis is on the food. One suggestion is if your going for the beer, sit on the bar side. Thursdays they have cheap wings ans 2 buck pints of thier pale ale. The $2 speical is pretty typical through the week and feautres different beers every night, but dont expect it on the weekends, full price baby. I've had several great experiences, and one terrible one that has affected them all. I was with a large group one night and our server continue to serve us all until she dropped the check. She was well aware we were staying and moving over to the bar side. She waited until she recieved her tip and then immediately went to the bar and told them to cut a majority of our party off. She was ok serving us as long as she could make a buck off of it...but as soon as we were no longer profitable to her tip she done with us. The men at the bar saw that we were ok to drink and a complaint was made to management about our experience, gift cards STILL don't make what she did right.

Rock Bottom is an upbeat place with more modern decor, as you pull up outside the restaurant, they've showcased their brewing quarters for all to see. Once inside, there is the large rectangular bar to your right, with ample seating in booths and tables surrounding the bar area with room for about twenty or so patrons to sit directly at the bar. To your left, the restaurant side is a little brighter, well lit and looks more fashion-forward with the lighting fixtures and seating a little more family-oriented as there seemed to be a lot of kids out eating with their families, something I didn't necessarily expect from a brewery-style restaurant. Service was prompt yet a little inattentive, seemed knowledgeable enough of the brews on hand and a brief description of them. The menu offered up burgers and sandwiches, chicken, seafood, steak, and had quite a few southwestern entrees as well. I did notice a little too late that they have a beer and cheese taster appetizer that would've been better than the chicken quesadillas that we tried. They weren't bad at all, but for $9, they could've been a little for substancial. Started off, my wife ordered a Pumpkin Ale, and I tried the Double Barrel Pale Ale. At $4 for a half-liter mug, the beers were easily the cheapest portion of our bill. Both beers were lighter-tasting than I expected, especially the Pale Ale as the description mentioned something to the tune of being a hop-head's delight. The hops were barely there, much more malt than hop. Not bad beer, just a little lackluster in my opinion. For dinner, my wife ordered the herbed lemon chicken with asparagus and I had the hickory burger. The food was good, better than the beer, the burger was great and my wife enjoyed her entree as well. All in all, not a bad place to grab dinner and a brew, not the best beer available in restaurant-brewery establishment, but definitely worth visiting and checking out if you're in the area.
