Boulder Shake Chocolate Porter has a thick, creamy, beige head, a dark brown appearance, with red highlights, under light, and fairly substantial lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of chocolate, intense malts, dark wheat bread, bread crust, cream, milk, and sugar. Taste is of those elements, with acidity, bitterness, and cocoa powder. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Boulder Shake Chocolate Porter finishes fairly crisp and highly drinkable. The alcohol is not as apparent as 5.9% American-style lagers (such as Natural Ice or Schlitz XL).

For what this is designed to be it is outstanding. The closest thing to a chocolate milk shake beer I have had....yet it is not cloying...a dusty milk chocolate type flavor (think shavings from a high quality milk chocolate Easter Bunny.

Excellent aroma as well.

One of the best chocolate forward beers out there.

This beer is like a fudge shake--but not sweet. It smells like fudge, and it tastes like fudge. Yet it is recognizably a beer. This is absurdly good. I would highly, highly recommend it. It tends to be moderately expensive, running at about $12 a 6-pack here in South Carolina--however, it is completely worth the price.
