12 oz. brown bottle poured into tulip pint glass. No freshness dating can be found on the bottle. I've had this beer a few times over the years with this being my first review of it.
Appearance: hazy dark gold in color with off-white creamy head. Body is lighter in color than many IPAs. Head breaks down, but a cap of foam remains on top throughout the beer. Carbonation starts out vigorous and then plays hard-to-find.
Smell: citrusy hops and sweet caramel maltiness. Alcohol can be detected.
Taste: sweet caramel and honey are equalled by grapefruit citrus rind hoppiness. Alcohol shows itself at the finish.
Mouthfeel: well balanced with a buttery smoothness. Carbonation is gentle and complimenting with a medium body.
Drinkability: very enjoyable all-around beer with satisfying flavors and scents. With so many IPAs on the market, this one seems lost in the crowd. It should be one in the forefront.
