A nice enough looking brew. Clear almost light amber coloured ale. Decent one finger off white head with ok retention sat on top of the brew. Some sticky clouds of lace already present as the head receded.
White grapefruit with hints of pine from the Amarillo hops make up the main component of the aroma of this brew. Sweeter aromas from the pale malts with a honey like quality are also present, with a nice hint of caramel.
The taste is much like the aroma.
Not quite medium bodied. Mildly carbonated. Fairly aggressive hopping, the malts are definitely in the background according to the style.
Pretty drinkable, although at 7% abv this is not a sessionable ale. The alcohol is slightly warming and does manage to assert its presence to a mild degree. While this is a good and solid brew that reaches the standard of the style its not particularly exciting for me personally. Certainly recommended for fans of Amarillo hops, and well worth trying.
